As You Rest, Let’s Ponder On These Things

A third of the world is on one form of lock down or the other and the media is awash with all manner of information. All geared towards scaring the living day lights out of their viewers, readers and listeners. This is good of course. They say the information is to keep the people informed and to make them comply with the laws and regulations of the regulators of the societies. There is no problem with this, since it is for the well being of the people. However, instead of making people feel at ease, the overload of information has planted unwarranted fears in the hearts of people. To bring this home, as sons of God, why are there so many amongst the ranks that are secretly fearful? Remember, what is coming from the world and the government is information and NOT revelation. If we believe this, why is the information coming out informing our state of minds? Beloved, what are you afraid of? Jesus said to His Disciples: “…’Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest awhile’…” (Mark 6:31a). Beloved, where you are right now, let’s rest awhile and ponder on a few things.
I would love to draw your attention to Mary and Joseph. These were righteous people before the Lord – they were obedient and were in right standing with God. But a day came when they lost track of God momentarily and became anxious: “Every year His parents traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival. When He was 12 years old, they went up according to the custom of the festival. After those days were over, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but His parents did not know it. Assuming He was in the travelling party, they went a day’s journey. Then they began to look for Him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for Him…When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have You treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You’” (Luke 2:41-45, 48). Same as these days, so many spiritual experiences have become feasts, jamborees and routines; there is no spiritual touch. So many, unknown to them, have lost touch with the Master! Things that we should remember and know, we had forgotten. For some, God’s Word became whatever the Pastors say! Just like the Samaritan woman by the well, so many became experts in parroting what their Pastors say without going back to check God’s Word for themselves. The experience of God they have is always a corporate one. They do not have a personal or private relationship with the Master. As a result, in these times, so many developed spiritual amnesia and fear sets in. They forgot some of the things the Lord said, such as: “Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me” (John 14:1, AMP), or “You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet…All these events are the beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:6 & 8), and so many more verses.
So many ministers teaching information instead of revelation in the church have produced fearful believers that have become careless, presumptuous over life and day to day living. They are always preoccupied with vain reasoning, vain imaginations of what should and should not be; always in pointless arguments, finger pointing, thus taking their eyes off their primary assignments as watchmen! These informative teachings produced men that are more interested in titles, wealth and health instead of the Person of God! They are more preoccupied with the acts of God than knowing God Himself! Can you imagine an Apostle in our time (that has been an Apostle for awhile) does not know what the job/role of an Apostle is?! People desire and carry titles but do not occupy the offices (responsibilities) whose names they carry!
Beloved, because so many sons of God have lost touch with the Master, they go searching for Him in the wrong places instead of searching for Him in His Word! They forgot that we are not to live by bread alone but by every Word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord. Since they do not carry the life of Christ in them, they are ravaged with fear: “Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me” (John 6:57). If you fit into the bill above, this is how you find Him back:
  • Firstly, Repent, Seek and Follow Jesus Christ only on His terms, not on the terms of your Pastor, denomination or doctrine: “…EVERYONE who names the name of the Lord must turn away from unrighteousness” (2Timothy 2:19b, EMPHASIS MINE).
  • Secondly, Insist and Determine to make your relationship with the Master PERSONAL: “For I will then restore pure speech to the peoples so that all of them may call on the name of YAHWEH and serve Him with a single purpose” (Zephaniah 3:9) and Jeremiah 31:34.
  • Thirdly, Do not act in haste and presumptions. Always be guided by the Spirit of God. Don’t be deceived, where there are no more revelations, information thrives (Colossians 2:20-23).
Beloved, as you spend time musing on these words, may the Lord open your eyes to His truth and may He grant you the Grace to obey and follow Him completely till He comes, in Jesus Christ name. God bless you!
