Take A Look At The Mirror…What Do You See?

As the year closes and a new dawn breaks signifying the birth of a New Year, it is necessary as children of God to sit back and take stock of the year closing even as we prepare our hearts and minds for the New Year if the Lord tarries. It is a time to look into the Perfect Word of God and reexamine our hearts: “Test yourselves to see, if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you not recognize for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless you fail the test” (2Corinthians 13:5). It is not a time to take stock of what we gained or lost but to look intently at our walk and service to the Lord. When the children of Israel finally crossed the Jordan through God’s providence, before they could take possession of the Promised Land, they needed to be circumcised (Joshua 5:1-9). One would have expected that the first logical thing to do was to take a census of themselves and take stock of their possessions so that they can truly give thanks to God (counting their blessing

I Got This!

The prophet Jeremiah is reputed to be one of the great prophets. His call was not accidental, in fact, the word of God recorded that before he was formed in his mother’s womb, God called him (Jeremiah 1:5). His prophecies were right on point and he devoted his life and attention to his calling. When one reads this account, our logical minds would conclude that he had an extremely successful ministry, celebrated by the government of the day and must have had fame and fortune which are the ‘external’ evidences of his call. Unfortunately, the reverse was the case. One can safely conclude that the troubles he kept getting for his prophecies outweighed his expectations of being a highly celebrated prophet for his accurate predictions. I bet if Jeremiah lived in our time, we would have either concluded that God did not call him and he was using a different means to ‘see’ the things he was seeing or he must have committed a great sin to attract such great persecutions his way. It is wort

A Dangerous Wind!

Have you ever noticed that there is always a subtle question mark put by satan behind every word of God? He shoots arrows of doubts into the unsuspecting heart to make such stumble and fumble in making the right decision. This is not a new trick of his; he used this same strategy to entrap the first man and woman in the Garden. He subtly questioned the integrity of God’s word which in turn caused terrible doubt to take root in the heart of the first couple. As a result of this, man had always tried to reason out the word of God; thus, questioning the integrity of His word. This questioning and doubts had undermined and still undermines man’s relationship with God. This terrible perversion has equally crept in unnoticed into the Body of Christ.   We were warned not to give ear or room to deceit and distortions which had culminated in shallow and deceptive philosophies that are based on basic earthy principles rather than on the word of God (Colossians 2:8). These deceptions have b

Keep Focus

A promising young man once told me he left his great job because it was distracting him. Needless to say I was surprised, and was wondering how such a wonderful job could be ‘distracting’ especially in times when such good jobs are hard to find. He went on to say that he has a goal and a purpose but the job is undermining his values, beliefs and taking his focus off his purpose! For that reason, he has to leave so as not to be sucked into the cesspool of the company’s corruption. I asked him if he had any other job to go to, he replied (at that time) he was yet to find one, but he would rather stay without a job than to go through the daily rape of his values and beliefs, thereby losing his purpose why he was placed on earth! For standing for his beliefs and values, God later rewarded him with an awesome job, much greater than the one he left. This same attitude we saw in Jesus Christ; despite the numerous distractions, He remained true to what brought Him to earth. He

The Elymas Spirit

A married woman caught in adultery was asked why she committed the act and her reply was ‘the devil made me do it’. This answer had being one that people give when caught in acts that are terrible. From the thief to the murderer and the cheat, they all claim the devil made them do it. We may mock them as it always happen but it will be great to look at the statement again. Those that believe the statement is laughable insist that the person should be intelligent enough to know and distinguish between right and wrong. I once talked with a man that told me that he was not ready to give his life to Jesus Christ until he has fully enjoyed his life. At this time, he was a drunk, wife abuser and irresponsible. When reminded of these, he replied that he is actually a good man at heart but the devil makes him do some of the bad ‘stuff’. Same with a child of God caught pilfering the funds of the fellowship in his possession; he claimed that the devil made him do it. Maybe you are currently
