Where Lies Your Focus?

There is a general laissez-faire wind blowing across the world. People, especially those in authority think natural laws can be changed or modified to suit the prevailing ‘mood’ of the times; unknown to them, they are pushing and expanding the agenda of darkness over the earth and its inhabitants. The Church is not left out in this terrible trend. In fact proponents of this terrible move are mostly found in the Church. When confronted, they argue that they are protecting and propagating the Gospel. As if the Owner of the Gospel has lost touch on how to protect and propagate it! This terrible error have caused so many within the Church to lose focus; setting their sights on men rather than on God! Teachings that are contrary to God’s word are continually churned out and very few are the wiser to the antics of these towers of Babel preachers. They rob the hearers of the chance to be truly transformed by the truth of God’s word. Jesus Christ told the people: “Then He said to them all, ‘if anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me’” (Luke 9:23). Christ is calling everyone (irrespective of who they are) that believes in His Lordship over their lives to carry their cross on a daily basis. The cross is not a symbol of fun rather it’s a symbol of death: death to the flesh, the way and manner of thinking of the world – a call to live a sacrificial life to the Lord Jesus Christ! Now, however, so many teach that people should come in and have fun in His name – remaining as they are, because ‘Christ had finished the work on the cross’, so they can live their lives to bring themselves pleasure! It is always about ‘them’ seeking their own happiness and satisfaction! By this terrible and erroneous teaching, the Almighty is being portrayed not as the Almighty One, the Judge of the earth and the Ancient of Days but as the ‘Baby of Days’ that is ‘happy’ once they are ‘happy’!
One terrible method of pushing this error is when people are in dire straits and need urgent answers to their predicament. All manner of steps and techniques are taught without first realizing that we need to believe God and obey Him in order for Him to shed light on the things we need sorted: “Even zeal is not good without knowledge, and the one who acts hastily sins” (Proverbs 19:2). Friend, the reason you get distracted and follow men that are building towers and names for themselves is because you do not yet believe Jesus Christ for Who He is. When you believe and obey Him, understanding is released to you to understand His heart for you and you will not be easily hoodwinked by these con men! Jesus Christ said: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish – ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one” (John 10:28-30). Why is it then easy for you to fall prey to the gimmicks of these false teachers? It is time to re-examine where your focus lie. Like Elijah said to the Jews: “…How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If Yahweh is God, follow Him. But if Baal, follow him…” (1Kings 18:21b). Re-examine your focus and stand consistently on Whom you have come to know and believe. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen and keep you in His truth. God bless you.
