…But God Has a Plan!

     The Bible tells us in Daniel 1:1-2 that in the third year of King Joakim of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar sacked Jerusalem and took many captives including the reigning king. This was arranged by the Lord because of their sin and He handed the people of Judah and their king to the heathen king of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar. But God had a plan! Amongst those that went on exile were four young nobles that loved the Lord. One would have wondered or argued that since these were living in Jerusalem, the Lord should have had mercy upon the land and spear the country. After all He said in Genesis 18 concerning Sodom that if He found ten righteous people there He will not destroy it. Our minds could reason that there could have been six additional righteous men in Judah and the Lord should have speared it. But that was not the case here because God had a plan in mind. He was entering another phase with the world in His plan to redeem mankind to Himself. He needed to showcase His name, power, might and majesty to the rest of the world through these young four nobles. Thus, began the inviting of the gentiles into the Kingdom.

Back to our text, the Bible says Daniel and his friends purposed in their hearts not to defile themselves with the food from the king’s table. They ate vegetables and drank water; the conclusion was they looked healthier and smarter than those that were feeding fat upon the king’s choice meals. My friend, the Bible makes it very clear that we are pilgrims in this world on our way somewhere with many bus-stops and rest-stops along the way. The situation you have found yourself in today may be a bad and sad one, but understand this: God is the One that allowed you in and if you allow Him by feeding properly, He will showcase His power, might and majesty in that same ‘sad and bad situation’. Unfortunately, so many are feeding fat but inappropriately upon the king’s choice meals instead of feeding on ‘vegetables and water’ which is His Word. No wonder the countenance of so many noble children of God are not reflective of the God they claim to be carrying on the inside.

Friend, what have you been feeding on that had made you so calloused that the only thing that interests you is what you’d get in return for serving Him? Have you turned Him into a vending machine that must bring out any product you want as long as you slot in some money? When a person feeds on God’s word just like in vegetables and water, such a person’s spiritual system is continually cleansed; his vision and hearing gets clearer and clearer. Instructions on how to get out of the situation is then revealed. The reason so many claim not to hear God concerning their situation is because they are feeding on meals that is making them dull of hearing and blind of sight. God has a plan concerning that situation, feed right and get the instructions to come out of it! God bless you.
