Have you heard the phrase: ‘a
marketable product is about packaging’? This information simply tells us that
if we intend to get ahead in a market with similar products, we must pay particular
attention to the way the product we want to market is packaged. As a result,
some products do better than others not because they are better but because of
their packaging. This principle unfortunately has crept into the Church. ‘It’s
all about packaging!’ These are phrases that are bandied around in the Church.
But is this scriptural? Yes, it works in the world set-up because the workings
of the world are sensual based on the appeal to the senses; not so in the
church as we are to walk by faith and not by sight. Unfortunately, one
significant thing about the times we live in is the preoccupation of people
with appearances. People are very concerned about the way they look, how they
present themselves to the world and how they are received by the world. In
these times very few grow inner fortitude for the challenges ahead of them. All
that most think about is how they look for the now. Jesus said in Luke 16:15
that what is highly valued by people is detestable in the sight of God. The
Bible equally states that we should redeem the times for the days are evil (Ephesians
5:15-17). What does this mean? Is it for all for us to go to school, do great
in business or get a good job, acquire the finer things of life, get married
and raise a family? It is certainly more than that. All the years you have been
working, what have you got to show for it? Apart from your family, wardrobe,
great holiday destinations and expensive collectibles, what else? The ones that
don’t have jobs, the little they get is on how to boost or ‘package’ their
appearances. At the end, this generation wastes a lot of energy in gathering
vain frivolities to waste upon an appetite that cannot be satisfied! Have you
thought about your spiritual looks? Do you look good spiritually? How much have
you invested in your spiritual growth or you are still feeding on the
regurgitated food of your pastors, mentors and spiritual parents? If that is
the case, boy, you are not looking good at all, in fact you are ‘kwashiorkored’!
God, in the Scriptures warned us to learn from the ant but these days it looks
like the ant is wiser than so many. How much have you stored towards eternity.
Friend, no matter what technology is saying, THERE IS ETERNITY!!! And it does
matter! Your spiritual look here is a pointer to where you are going to spend
eternity. Friend, physical looks are transient, only one look lasts and matters,
that is, your spiritual look. Spend time on your spiritual man and whether we
like it or not, it is visible to the eye of the discerning. Enough of vain and
garish looks; it is time to get down to that which really matters. Our spirit
man must look good (as He is) so that when He comes for us, He will have no
problem recognizing us. The grace to prepare for Him is released unto you in Jesus
Christ name. God bless you.
"So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me” (Isaiah 6:5-8). As the Coming of the LORD draws ever closer, there is an increase in dryness, apathy and preoccupation with the world and its treasures in the hearts and minds of many children of God. Looking around our Nation (Nigeria), one would realise that things are not as they should be. The realities on the ground give the impression that the institutions that ought to regulate the lives of the citizen...
