Remove the Limiters!

Have you ever encountered a person that says the right things but never does them? I mean, they know exactly what to say at the most inopportune time but it never translates to action? Such a person, we will term ‘insincere’, ‘fake’ and so many uncomplimentary terms. But the truth is if we profess to be Christians, do we do the things we say and actually mean them? Imagine a powerful king all dressed up and seated on his throne of power with ample resources before him, yet he is unable to exercise his full authority! When one looks closely at him, he is chained and gagged on his throne! This is the state of so many children of God. However, the Psalmist says concerning humans: “what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that You should care for them? Yet You made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything You made, putting all things under their authority…” Psalm 8:4-6. We have this power and authority but unable to fully exercise them. Imagine, every one of us exercising our powers and authorities given to us by God in a holy and righteous manner? What a glorious world it will be. Unfortunately, there are limiters that you can’t imagine are there or could limit as much as they do. These limiters have cut short destinies, visions, ministries and lives. They are so small, they are the proverbial 'little foxes that spoil the vine'! It then follows, that we must know these limiters, expose them and eradicate them from our lives. “There are six things the Lord hates – no, seven things He detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family” Proverbs 6: 16-19. They look 'harmless' and small but are treacherous because they form footholds for the enemy against our lives. Like the proverbial impotent king, we can never begin to fully maximize the heavenly resources at our disposal if we do not do away with malicious, slanderous and hateful ways which God detests.
As children of the kingdom we have a responsibility to care and love one another: to share in the burden of our fellow brethren and treat others with the love God has commanded. Sadly, because of these limiters, homes have been destroyed, ministries truncated, destinies shortchanged, gifts unproductive and unrealized. This is so because of insincerity in the hearts: a mismatch of what is said and the action taken! Therefore, the Holy Spirit is unable to move in us to do and to will according to His purpose. Friend, if we must claim the blessing heaven has in store for us and function effectively in it, we must turn from the path of wickedness to the path of love which is Christ Himself. Only then can our prayers be answered, our worship and praise acceptable, our works fruitful and our lives purposeful, all to the glory of God. Friend, we must mature and do away with these fruits of wickedness and carnality. As we open our hearts to the workings and dealings of the Holy Spirit, our words will no longer lack power but we will live lives of sincerity (what we say matching our actions); a life without struggle and fulfilling our mandate on the earth as victorious sons of the Most High. It is possible and it is the only way that our authority and power as God's children can be effectively exercised. God bless you.
