Have you been in
a situation when you feel as if you have gotten to the end of your rope and it looks
like you are not getting the responses you ought to be getting from Heaven considering
the grave situation you are in? At this point, many advise us to take decisions
based on the facts on ground! Armed with these facts, so many go on to take
decisions that eventually alienate or push them completely out of the purposes
of God for their lives. Naomi made a decision to return back to Bethlehem with
her two daughter in-laws when she heard God had responded to their cries.
However, when faced with the daunting prospects for their future Orpah one of
the daughters in law chose to remain with her people and her gods. Ruth on the
other hand forsook everything to follow her mother in-law back to a strange
land. Ruth looked beyond her precarious situation and saw the God of Israel as
a better God to serve than the gods of Moab. Despite the seemingly plenty and
security she could find if she remains in Moab, she determinedly followed and clung
to Naomi but in the real sense she was actually pledging allegiance to the God
she had heard of and seen in Naomi. Friend, Ruth left all and followed without
looking back and the Lord honored her for it. No matter how daunting the
situations we find ourselves, we must determinedly “approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us at the proper time.” Hebrews 4:16. It is a sad
thing, when we fail in the face of battle, but when we turn to Him; He sends us
help even from unlikely sources and places. The Bible equally tells us in
Romans 8:28 “…all things work together
for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His
purpose.” It therefore follows that the events that happened in the lives
of Naomi and Ruth were orchestrated by the Lord towards the fulfilment of His
purpose for their lives. It was in the plan of God for Ruth to marry Boaz and
become the grandmother of king David and one in the lineage of Christ! Praise
God that they flowed in the purpose of God for their lives. Friend, when things
turn topsy-turvy around you, it is not for you to pull your hair out in worrying
and panicking thus, walking away from His purpose for you, but to return back
to the Lord to seek out His instruction for you at that point in time. Even if
you can’t understand what is happening, be determined like Ruth to obey
forsaking all else. Ruth like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had no idea where she
was going or what was in store for her, but she was fully convinced that this
God is faithful and is able to take care of all that concerns her. For every
person that walked in this truth, they were truly honored by the Lord. The lives
of people like Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Rahab, Ruth, Esther, Daniel,
Mary, Paul and so many, the Gospel of Christ could not have been complete
without their exploits. Friend, the reason why so many are not believing the
gospel you preach is because they are yet to see the exploits of this Life you
preach in yours. It is time to serve Jesus Christ not because of what we want
done but because of Who He is. He is INDEED the Son of God and He will come
through for you as He did for Ruth and Naomi! God bless you.
I remember meeting a man of God in his office after the Sunday Services in his Church. I, like many others that day needed a few minutes with him. I was there at the instruction of the LORD to deliver a message. As we were talking, one of his Church workers came in and gave him a note. His face lit up, and he was very excited. I saw that there were sets of numbers written. I thought the numbers represented those who gave their lives to Christ, because many came out during the Altar Call to give and rededicate their lives to the LORD Jesus Christ. No! Apparently, they represent the number of people in attendance at each of the three services with the corresponding money collections realised. They were not concerned about the souls that came out hungry for God! I was saddened by their excitement. They were not excited about the souls that came into the Kingdom of God; rather, they were rejoicing about their egos, ranks and bank a...
