What Is The Root…?

Talking with a friend a few days ago concerning some doctrines in the Body of Christ, revealed the importance of daily studying the Scriptures as a child of God so as not to be held captive by the philosophies of men disguised as revelations from God. There are so many doctrines and these in turn color the way so many serve God. Our discussion centered on some traditions of the Church that had roots in the world system in order to win more souls for the Kingdom of God. She argued that since these traditions are now in the Church, despite the fact that they have now been exposed as having roots in the dark world system, she believes they serve as great opportunities and tools to win many to the Lord! The question that jumped out of my lips was, ‘has God lost the strategy to people His Kingdom that He needs us to borrow traditions from the dark evil world systems?’ Let us see how this idea turned out in the Scriptures: Uzzah tried to steady the Ark of God when the oxen carrying it stumbled (1Chronicles 13:9-10), God struck him dead; when the seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest tried casting out an evil spirit in the name of Jesus, the spirit possessed man overpowered them and beat them to a pulp (Acts 19:14-16). In the two scenarios, what the men tried to do was not wrong in itself, but the root on which their acts were based was very wrong. God has provided precise provisions for moving the Ark and for casting out demons. To go against this, is to go against God Himself!
When we do things that have no root in God, it is a matter of time before they start falling apart. No matter how many rules, principles we put in place to support an action, idea that is not securely rooted in God, don’t be deceived, it will fail after awhile. This is so because when a testing comes to test the root, it will be destroyed: “When the foundations are destroyed what can the righteous do?” (Proverbs 11:3). So many enter relationships, businesses and all manner of ventures outside of God; after contracting, they expect God to keep the alliances intact! When these fail, they blame everyone but themselves: “People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord” (Proverbs 19:3). That relationship, decision, venture that you are considering, what is its root? Anything rooted on lies, lust, self-aggrandizement and other vices of darkness will not stand the test of time. When a testing comes against the foundation/root, it will vanish like smoke!
So many homes have broken or in the verge of breaking up because their root is something else, NOT Christ! You may argue that there were some that were well rooted in Him but they came crashing down. I beg to disagree! God does not lie. They may claim to be His, but the Bible tells us this so that we would not walk in self delusion: “Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, having this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are His’ and ‘Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from unrighteousness’” (2Timothy 2:19). Furthermore, Jesus Christ said in a parable (Matthew 7:24-25) that a person that hears His words and does them is like a house built on a rock, all the elements came against the house but it remained standing because its root is IN the Rock (Jesus Christ). Beloved, the reason that venture is crumbling is because it has a defective root system. The root gotten from the world is insecure and deceitful, and will not stand the test of time. Don’t be deceived, anything whose root is not the Rock (Christ) will not stand the test of time no matter how much we try to hold it up. At the same time, a thing cannot be godly no matter how good or strategic to the Kingdom it may appear to be if its root is not the Rock (Jesus Christ). No amount of whitewashing and Christian dressing done on such a thing, there will be no change, it will eventually display its true nature and fade away! Beloved, the plan of God for you and I at this time as His return is imminent is: “The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward” (Isaiah 37:31). May the grace of the Lord, help you to be well rooted in Him in order to bear long lasting fruits to Him in Jesus Christ name! God bless you!
