Are you going through some difficult times, hard to bear,
hard to explain, and you desire strongly, to give up? Please Don’t! The kingdom of
hell has released so many depressive and oppressive spirits that make people believe they are
unloved and worthless no matter their station in life. This means this
onslaught is not limited to a particular class, gender, creed or race. For many children of God, when faced with
certain difficulties of life, we wonder if God is aware of the things we are
going through. And if He is aware, why would He let us go through so much pain.
Questions like these and many more plague our minds, and if we do not arrest
such thoughts through God’s Word, they have the power to push us from our firm
stand with the Lord. We may feel we are all alone and words are not enough to
help. The truth is, the right words and the right heart are of great help to
pull us through because it’s a two way street. Giving our lives to the Lord or
the Lord taking hold of our lives does not translate to mean we would have a
problem and stress free life. On the contrary, the fact that we said ‘yes’ to
this life means we would go through some turbulent times. But He has promised
that we would not be burnt, overwhelmed or destroyed by them. These situations emphasize
that the Lord is with us, and His might is in us to deliver us: “Give us aid against the foe, for human help
is worthless. With God we will perform valiantly; He will trample our foes”
(Psalm 60:11-12). Trusting in human wisdom or strength is worthless and will
not help us eventually.
As a child of God, we must learn to be absolutely confident
and reliant on the Word of God, trusting Him not to leave nor forsake us. Why?
Because He said so! “We are assured and
know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are
[fitting into a plan] for good to and for
those who love God and are called according to (His) design and purpose”
(Romans 8:28, AMP). This means as a child of God, we must have absolute trust
in Jesus Christ, knowing that everything that happens to us, either by our
decision or the decision of others is not by mistake but all designed to fit a
particular pattern for our good. This Scripture is meant to comfort and
encourage us to stand and remain standing in Jesus Christ, no matter what the
enemy throws at us. When the enemy comes with all manner of lies that we are
unloved, worthless and useless, we are to remember this Scripture and not lose
faith, because it has been permitted by the Lord and we will overcome! Sadly,
if we lose sight of this fact, a sinking and a drowning are inevitable as we
saw with Peter. However, as wonderful as the Scripture is, it is not meant for
everyone!
There are two conditions that must be met. Firstly, do you love Him?
It is not enough to mouth you love Him, your actions show if you truly love Him
or not: “If you love Me, keep My
commandments” (John 14:15). You cannot claim to love God and you disobey
His commands. Loving God and remaining in His love is to turn our backs on the allures
of the world as Moses, Joseph, David and many more did: “But he considered reproach for the sake of the Messiah to be greater
wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward”
(Hebrews 11:26). Your heart must be completely His. Secondly, we must be one of
the ‘called’. Not just a call to give our lives to Him or a call to ministry,
but a call to be His regular companion (Mark 3:14), a call to come up the
mountain and sit at His feet to learn of Him, just as the disciples did (Matthew
5:1-2). Only when these two conditions are fulfilled in you can the Scripture
apply to you.
Finally, beloved, this is not the time to play games with our faith, these
are dangerous times because the battle is for our minds. Jesus Christ is not far from us as the enemy
will want us to believe because of what is happening around us; rather it is
the people that are far from Him. Beloved, no matter what you are going
through, don’t despair but be strongly assured that the Lord is with you like a
Mighty Warrior: “For the eyes of the Lord
range throughout the earth to show Himself strong for those whose hearts are
completely His” (2 Chronicles 16:9a) and “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect]
peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress
and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain,
undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm
you and have conquered it for you]” (John 16:33, AMP). Praise God! Open
your heart and receive this, then respond in thanksgiving that
you have received it: "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him" (1John 5:14-15). God bless you.
