“Are not two little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not
one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s leave (consent) and
notice. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, then;
you are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:29-31, AMP). We live in a
world that desires to take God out of all we do. If one can live without having
to think of being responsible to the Creator, many will be up for it. Since the
Word negates a life without God, there is an upsurge to silence it from as many
platforms as the agitators can. Daily we are bombarded with teachings that tell
us we can live a life without God watching over our shoulders. Many argue that
man has been given the freedom to do whatever he pleases, so long as it does not hurt
his fellow humans or contravene the laws of the land. This thought, sadly, have
not helped the cause of mankind, rather it has plunged man deeper into acts of
unprecedented debauchery.
This manner of teaching, unfortunately, is beginning to
find expression within the Church of the Living God. Many are taught that they
do not need God for little, everyday ‘mundane’ things, which they should be
able to handle on their own. Sadly this teaching is gaining a lot of ground,
and so many are confused when the desired outcome of decisions taken concerning
a seemingly ‘mundane’ thing is threatening to derail their lives. Beloved, the
Bible clearly states: “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”
(Romans 8:14, AMP). But if truly God is not bothered about little things that
concerns us (for instance, what to eat, where to eat, when to move, how to
live, what to wear and the likes), why do we need the Holy Spirit to lead us on
a daily basis? Or, is the leading limited to only the ‘big’ issues of our
lives? Do we know that a lot of destinies were derailed because of eating from
the wrong place, lodging in a wrong place, even working in the wrong place? This
verse presupposes that we must be led in every area of our lives. It is this
carefree and careless teaching that we don’t have to be led in mundane things but
to apply our ‘brains’ that have given room to narcissists in the Church. These
believe that since they were able to apply their ‘brain’ power to certain
issues and it worked, it means they really didn’t need God for those areas in
the first place: “But Ephraim says: ‘How rich I have become; I made it all
myself. In all my earnings, no one can find any crime in me that I can be
punished for!’” (Hosea 12:8). That Scripture is the very definition of the sin
of ‘pride of life’!
Beloved, don’t be deceived and don’t despair, God is truly
interested in every minute detail that concerns you. That headache that will
not just stop, that toothache that will not let you sleep, that heartache that
is giving you sleepless nights – He is very interested; and He desires you to
hand it over to Him to fix. Every time in Scriptures we see men that think they
can handle some things themselves get burnt! For instance, it was common
sense for Abraham to not have listened to Sarah and kept Hagar and Ishmael; after all,
Ishmael is his son. It would have been common sense for Isaac to move his family
to Egypt because of the famine in the land. It would have also been common
sense for Stephen to have been silent, after all he was only to serve tables,
and leave the ‘big’ things to the Apostles to deal with! Joshua applied common
sense when it came to the Gibeonites, and Israel paid for it. Abraham applied
common sense and went to Egypt, but he (and the rest of his seed to this day)
paid and are paying dearly for that decision!
Beloved, so many got their
destinies derailed because they did not trust God enough to ask Him for help,
or trust His counsel for those ‘mundane’ things. That dress you wore, or that
stop you didn’t make caused you to miss the divine arrangement and appointment God had in store
for you at that particular time: “Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk –
not as unwise people but as wise – making the most of the time because the days
are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is”
(Ephesians 5:15-17). The Lord says the strands of hair (dead cells) on your
head are numbered, this means not one strand drops without His knowing or
consent (Luke 21:18). Beloved, be confident in this: you are precious in His
sight, and He cares about everything
that concerns you. He wants you to tell Him everything and He will direct
you in everything! God bless you.
