Seriously, I wonder how Jesus Christ would have felt and
reacted if He lived in these times. One may argue that some of the things
happening now were happening even then. True! There is so much hatred in the
air fueling killings, hate speech and the likes. It is as if the gates of hell
are thrown wide open, spewing out terrible demons of hate, with those of
racism, tribalism and every form of corruption in tow. And death is marketed subtly
as the answer to many uncomfortable conditions people find themselves. So many
have become deadened to what is right, such that they have become poster
children for the demented works of darkness. Those that should know better
because of their encounter with Christ have allowed the glittering lights of
the treasures of the world to hoodwink their hearts and minds. Jesus Christ
told His disciples (us inclusive), to follow His example in living, and if need
be, in dying also. He said: “As the
Father has loved Me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love. If you keep My
commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands
and remain in His love…This is My command: Love one another as I have loved
you” (John 15:9-10,12).
The command we were given is to love God, and love
our neighbors as we love ourselves. However, over the ages, that command had
become ‘Love yourself, then love those that look or behave like you’. And of
course, the new teaching now is one cannot really love another if they don’t
first love themselves! Such teachings have successfully turned the people from
being lovers of God to lovers of self. These forgot: “For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not
submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so. Those whose lives are in
the flesh are unable to please God” (Romans 8:7-8). Beloved, if God was all
about ‘self love’ and ‘love only those that look or behave like us’, we would
not have read about the accounts of Cornelius, the Ethiopian Eunuch or about
Simeon Niger in the Acts of the Apostles. These men were of different class and
race. When the love of God in us does not see beyond the color of a person’s
skin, tribe, ethnicity, class or creed, then something is seriously wrong with
our belief system, and we are in danger of the fires of hell: “We know that we have passed from death to
life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has
eternal life residing in him” (1John 3:14-15).
Sadly, so many that claim to be sons of God
are drinking from the pool of hypocrisy flowing from hell! We cannot claim to
follow a God that is LOVE while our congregations and home cells are segregated
based on the color of our skins, ethnicity and class. This hatred is not
innate, but is learned. Meaning it was built into the foundation of our beliefs
by people! No wonder racism and tribalism is running amok in our nations and the
leaders in Christ are powerless as to what to do: “When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do”
(Psalm 11:3)?
Beloved, it is high time we take apart the foundations of such
false beliefs and return to the True Foundation which is CHRIST, our First
Love: “Dear friends, let us love one
another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God
and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is
love” (1John 4:7-8). Love is able to unite us, and when united, we will
know what to do to take down the powers and agents of darkness running amok on
our lands! As sons of God, we are the light that this terrible dark world
sorely needs and yearns for. Stop making decisions based on the tribe,
ethnicity, race, creed or class of the person standing in front of you. Rather
let your decisions be based on the Word of God, and as led by the Spirit of God! May the Lord help us to realize this and make amends accordingly in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
