Call Me ‘FATHER’!

Who is Jesus to you? Remember He is fully God! He is One with the Father and the Spirit. He is the express image of the invisible God: “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself” (John 1:1, AMP). Isaiah 9:6c calls Him the ETERNAL FATHER! Beloved, what do you call Him? The sum total of your relationship with Him is summarized in what you call Him, not what other people call Him! What you call Him is actually how you relate with Him! However, He desires that you come to truly know Him as and call Him ‘FATHER’!
I always wondered how the Disciples of Jesus Christ must have felt when they asked Him to teach them how to pray, and He responded: “…you should pray like this: Our Father in Heaven…” (Matthew 6:9a). I believe that phrase would have shocked them. To regard the Creator of the Universe and all that is within as ‘Father’! Jesus was introducing the Father to us! Not just as God Almighty, but the One true Father! This means this is how He wants to relate with us. Not as a distant, absent authoritarian and powerful being that lives in a far-off segment of space! But as Father – Near and Present!
The desire of God Almighty from the very beginning is to be our Father, in every sense of the word!  In fact Apostle Paul, by the Spirit of God declared, “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named” (Ephesians 3:14-15). We are His children and members of His family! Our biological fathers got their name (fatherhood) from Him!
Beloved, the essence of this fatherhood is leadership. And leadership entails responsibility, empathy, sympathy, ownership, humility, love, protection, provision and the likes. Fatherhood is not an invention of great scientific minds or does it originate in folklores and myths. It was designed by God! And for it to be fully enjoyed and sustained, one must return back to God. Unfortunately, many in the Body of Christ are slowly losing sight of Who God is and should be in their lives. Instead of having a one on one relationship with Him, they entered into the error of the children of Israel in the wilderness (Exodus 20:18-21) by demanding a representative (middle man) between them and their Father!
In the same way, presently, many have turned their Pastors, Leaders and Elders to ‘fathers’. Sadly, when they are in need of the true Father, these people are nowhere to be found! Beloved, who you are, whom you have been created to be is in His hands. You cannot access the blueprint without coming to Him and sitting with Him, as a son with his father! When you see Him as your father, the dynamics of your worship and service to Him changes. It does not matter what the situation is, or what winds are blowing at that moment. You are certain and assured that you are safe within the circle of your Father’s arms: “For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock” (Psalm 27:5). Beloved, open your heart to Him and call Him ‘Father’! He awaits you with loving open arms. God bless you.

  1. I call Him Father and the Anchor of my soul. I think we believers need to have a personal encounter with the Lord. Knowing Him for who He truly is makes the difference in our faith and Christian journey. Like Job said, “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. ”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭19:25, 27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    1. You are so right, sister. The LORD desires that we come to know Him on a one on one basis and not through an intermediary. He desires close contact/relationship with us, just as He had with the first man and woman in the Garden (Genesis 2 and 3). God bless you.

The Quarry Site Experience

Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences.  As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard.  The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through.  Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...

Are You A True Disciple? Part 1

This decade opened with very dire straits for mankind, as many people around the world woke up to a world that stood still as each nation shut their borders, homes and institutions shutting their doors. If many had been told this scenario could happen a couple of decades ago, one would say it was crazily impossible. But it did happen! Many lives and livelihoods were destroyed, and many institutions and lifestyles, including the Church, were affected. As terrible as the times were and still are, it is exposing the hearts and state of many 'sons of God'!         Many wondered aloud, 'What does the devil want for causing all this havoc?' And some went further to ask, 'What does God want?' The answer to both questions is 'Man' (male and female)! It is a battle between the Kingdom of God and darkness for the soul of man. As a result, man is being prepared both by God and the devil for eternity with either!         ...

It Is Time To Raise A Cry For Nigeria!

"The voice said, “Cry out!” And he said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:6-8).         Listening to a brother detailing how Nigeria will be great again because it was foretold decades ago, I quieted down in my spirit to listen to him. According to him, the prophecies of old say that Nigeria will become a beacon of God's light to the rest of the world as they carry His Word to the rest of the world, especially in Africa. He enumerated the many qualities of Nigeria, especially the spiritual significance of her position within the continent of Africa. She will be used by God to trigger the last move of revival in the last days, he continued.         I listened attentively,...
