The world system says knowledge
is power. Meaning when you are aware of a thing, it is near impossible to be
overcome by it. With this knowledge, one can influence or change his/her
situation. If we believe this to be true, why do we think this idea do not
apply to the things of God? Now, the knowledge of God we have is by faith. Sadly,
many have misconstrued faith to be blissfully ignorant of God’s commands,
expecting things around them to change and work-out for them, according to some
imagined concepts in their mind.
Knowledge without application is useless,
powerless and of no benefit to the bearer. Adam was told: “But you must not
eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat
from it, you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:17). His and the woman’s
failure to appropriate (apply/own) this knowledge cost them the Garden. If we know the tools/skills we need to affect our space without appropriating by applying them, we will be fruitless in our spaces. We were
put in this world and the places we occupy to affect it for the Kingdom of God. It then follows that at the end of it all, each person will answer to Who put
them here: “For we are His creation – created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them” (Ephesians
2:10).
Beloved, it is not enough to know God’s Word, but how well have you
appropriated the bit you know into your daily living? When the enemy comes to whisper
lies that have a semblance of truth in them because of what you can see and
feel, how do you respond? Do you buy into his lies that God is unable to do
that which He had said concerning you? We are told: “Blessed be the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in the heavens, in Christ…” (Ephesians 1:3) and “For His divine
power has given us everything required for life and godliness, through the
knowledge of Him Who called us by His own glory and goodness” (2Peter 1:3).
These words and many more are not just for us to know them but to appropriate
them by faith into our lives, because that which concerns you is done and
settled in Christ!
As we come to know the realities in Jesus Christ, His
multifaceted wisdom, we are bold, we have access and confidence in Him. We KNOW and are assured that ALL that He had said and promised will SURELY come to pass. Thus, we
walk and move in this assurance, silencing the whispers of the enemy and his
agents along our path! Do not operate with the mindset of the elder brother of
the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). As a son working with his father, he should
have known that ALL that belonged to the father, belonged to him. Rather he was
serving his father with the mindset of a slave, forgetting that a slave has no
rights in the home but the son has rights as he owns the home: “’Son,’
he said to him, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours’”
(Luke 15:31).
But there is a condition for the promises of God to come to play
in our lives. Apart from believing God concerning the promises, the extent to
which the promises come to pass in our lives, is the extent of how much of His
power we wield. Remember: “For it is God Who is working in you, enabling you
both to will and to act for His good purpose” (Philippians 2:13). When we
submit totally to Jesus Christ in obedience, the power of God moves mightily in
and through us. “Now to the One who is able to do beyond all things, superabundantly
beyond and over and above those things that we are asking for ourselves and
considering, in the measure of the power which is operative in us”
(Ephesians 3:20, WUEST). God cannot move in you beyond the measure of the power you wield.
Beloved, stand up from the seat that you don’t want to be in
and claim the rights Jesus Christ had given to you. We have direct access to
Him, thus, we can operate in complete confidence and boldness in Him. Study and
meditate in His Word, so you can grow in the power and wisdom of God. It is not
automatic, but we must desire to want to know MORE of Him. God bless you as you
pursue to know Him more!
