Know The Truth For Yourself

"I’ve written these things about those who are attempting to lead you astray. But the wonderful anointing you have received from God is so much greater than their deception and now lives in you. There’s no need for anyone to keep teaching you. His anointing teaches you all that you need to know, for it will lead you into truth, not a counterfeit. So just as the anointing has taught you, remain in him" (1John 2:26-27, TPT).
Throughout the Scriptures, we see the devil use simple and factual logic to try to dissuade his targets from obeying the instructions of God. We saw him employ such tactic against the woman in the Garden of Eden, and even against our Lord Jesus Christ. The same tactic he still employs today. The arguments he proffers sound right and solid but they are not true and will lead the unsuspecting on a collision path with God, which is his end game.
In recent times, arguments, counter-arguments have arisen in the Body of Christ about some words, their use and their place in doctrinal foundations. As great as these arguments are, most if not all, distract the listeners and readers from the true Gospel of Christ. Many teachers in their quest to capture and engage their congregants employ words that are ambiguous in meaning, thereby undermining the faith of those that listen to and follow them. Well, this article is not about them, but about you and I that sits in the pew and listen!
The reality is that our frame of mind determines how we listen and evaluate the Word of God we hear or read about. And when we do this wrong, we put the eternal destination of our soul at risk. You might argue that the foregoing sentence is harsh. My apologies! But understand that words are powerful because they are seeds. They have a way of shaping a person's mind, which then determines one's actions.
Beloved, for instance, you are who you are today because of the words you have listened to and adhered to over the years, whether good or bad. Sadly, bad words are like gangrene as they spread faster than good words, and they silently eat away at the recipient: "But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness. And their teaching [will devour; it] will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus" (2 Timothy 2:16-17, AMPC).
Thus, we are warned: "Beware that no one distracts you or intimidates you in their attempt to lead you away from Christ’s fullness by pretending to be full of wisdom when they’re filled with endless arguments of human logic. For they operate with humanistic and clouded judgments based on the mindset of this world system, and not the anointed truths of the Anointed One" (Colossians 2:8, TPT). To avoid such, one must deliberately spend time studying and meditating upon God's Word. The reality is, the only way you can know which is true, is when you spend time searching out the TRUTH for yourself: "Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding" (Proverbs 23:23). This means it will cost you to get the truth, wisdom, instruction and understanding. And the cost is a DELIBERATE desire to spend time studying and meditating on God's Word daily!
Sadly, in these times, however, many do not want to spend time studying God's Word for themselves. They rather want to sit under charismatic teachers that will teach them. Unfortunately for such, God cannot be served or known by proxy. The Lord Jesus Christ desires a one on one relationship with as many that believe in Him. If you believe that God's Word is boring and tedious to study, then you will become easy prey for these 'hunters' that desire to make you a candidate of hell by their high sounding nonsensical teachings! Jesus Christ gave a parable about how precious the Kingdom of God is. Those that found it, sold all they had to purchase it. Now, if you believe Him that His Word is precious, what makes you think the enemy would NOT want to exchange that precious gift (Word) for his counterfeit?
This is what the enemy seeks to do daily in the life of him that thinks God's Word is boring and tedious, and would rather sit and be taught without going back to check if what he has been taught is accurate. If that is you, please ask the Lord for mercy, and return to His feet to learn of Him. As you do this, daily, He trains you and opens your ears to discern errors before they take root in your heart. If Jesus had given heed to the 'seemingly' right words of the devil as the woman did, He would not have fulfilled His purpose for coming to earth.
Finally, many destinies have been derailed and cut short because they paid attention and adhered to the 'right sounding' whisperings of hell. May the Lord uproot every word that is not His, that has taken root in your heart, and plant His Truth in you, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen! God bless you!
