A Lifestyle Of Selflessness

We just crossed over a season when we remember the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for mankind on the cross of Calvary. So many celebrate this period without realizing that the sacrifice Jesus Christ made was not meant to be a show to be commemorated but a lifestyle to be imitated if we claim to believe in Him and are following after: A lifestyle of selflessness! It means, it should not be a once in a year remembrance day but a daily reminder of what we have been called to be and to do. The sacrifice of Christ on that faithful day was meant to be a standard for all mankind that will come to receive and believe in Him. From Genesis to Revelation and in nature, everything that God created gives; no matter how little or insignificant the creature may be; only amongst humans one would find those that would rather be takers than givers. Giving selflessly is not optional but mandatory! Pause and let’s consider for a moment the widow of Zarephath in 1Kings 17:8-24. The amazing th...

Fear Not!

As the coming of the Lord draws ever nearer, several unprecedented happenings, decisions, policies and stance around the world that defies logic, negates our beliefs and generally irritate the sensibilities of many will happen and is happening. I can imagine how stupefied the people in the days of Noah were, when they saw him building such a gigantic ship far from any huge body of water under clear skies, no wonder they mocked and laughed at him, thereby sentencing themselves to annihilation! This scenario is reenacting itself even in our days. Jesus Christ used the same analogy to tell the people how His coming will be like. Unfortunately, several thousands of years after, man is yet to learn this lesson. The reason for this may be attributed in some cases to fear. Fear of what to eat, to wear, to live and of the future have made so many align their thoughts and beliefs to ways that negate the word of God. Friend, no matter your circumstances, it is not enough for you to shift yo...

Your Stand For God Is Actually For Your Children As Well!

“Here am I with the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion” (Isaiah 8:18). The above Scripture is one of the most quoted by the sons of God. The Scripture tells us that as servants of the Most High, we and our children are for signs and wonders upon the land because God said so and not as a result of a government policy. However, if that is not the case, it is not the government’s fault but ours. This is so because we are supposed to operate and live under a different system. Remember, though we are in this world, as children of God, we are not of the world (John 17:16). It is true we must obey the laws of the land and live by them; we are actually supposed to be guided by the laws of God from which governments derive their laws. If you do agree with this argument, it then becomes preposterous when children of God accuse the government of the day for the lapses on their part and their children’s...

The Age-old Deception

As the coming of Christ draws near by the day, so is the growth of the darkness that covers the earth. 2Timothy chapter 3 calls the times difficult and hard times to be a practicing Christian. The Scripture went further to state that people will see what is good and will hate it; they will hold to a form of godliness but deny the power within. Friend, sadly these are indeed the times! It is no longer morally right to see what is wrong and call it as it should be but because of political correctness, things that are clearly wrong are hailed as right; laws and policies are then put in place to legitimize them. In fact, these are days when even the righteous questions that which is right. Jesus Christ warned about these times when He said: “Take care then, that the light in you is not darkness” (Luke 11:35). How can this be, you may ask; how can one see that which is glaringly wrong and call it good, see darkness and call it light? The answer is the age-old deception of the devil; h...

Pray Tell, What Platform Are You Operating From?

T here is a popular saying that goes thus: “When in Rome you behave like the Romans”. So many have taken this statement to mean to partake in whatever situation one finds himself in order to achieve a particular goal. A friend once challenged me on this issue as he felt it is not only a powerful saying (undeniably) but it has biblical backing in his opinion. According to him, Paul said he became all things to all men in order to win them to Christ. Thus, to him it is judgmental of anyone to judge another on this. According to him, we can and should go to all lengths to win as many to Christ on this platform. His argument that day, was quite powerful and convincing because it had a semblance of truth in it. This is what actually got me uncomfortable! Let’s look at the Scripture my friend supposedly quoted from: “For although I am free from all people, I have made myself a slave to all, in order to win more people…To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become al...
