Closet Christian

A young man walked into his office one morning to find out he had been relieved of his duties. The terse letter read his services were no longer required in view of the organization’s financial challenges. On closer look however, he was actually let go because of his uncompromising stand on his beliefs. As a child of God, he had chosen to not only bear the name of Christ but to walk as He did. His case is one of many sons of God that are going through one form of persecution or the other in the work place, family, school or community because of their faith. No matter where you are placed, if you are going through persecutions because you are a child of God, do not despair or lose faith; respite is on its way in Jesus Christ name. However, this article is not written with you in mind, but you that are in a position of authority (no matter how small) to turn the tide of events in your environment but have chosen to be silent about your faith in order to advance your career. There wa...

A Return To The Trenches

If there was ever a time the Church of Christ should be stronger it is in these times because of the several policies and laws that are being churned out that clearly negates the principles of God. The question that readily comes to mind is why would God allow these laws to be passed in the first place? To be able to get the answer, we need to return to the Scriptures. Throughout Scriptures and history, when there’s a period of ease, children of God tend to forget Him and go make idols for themselves to affirm the way they have chosen to live which is contrary to God’s way. Thus, God uses the whips and lashes of the world system to wake His Body from the sleep of death. Currently, the Church in the developed world had fallen into a deep sleep of apostasy – the biblical tenets that keep the Body connected to the Lord had been abandoned for the pursuit of fame, wealth and fleshy ambitions. The Church as a result of this has become profici...

Understanding What To Do With Our Will

Looking through Scriptures at the lives of the children of Israel, one cannot help but conclude that the workings/miracles of God in their lives and in the lives of others were to the degree to which they submitted to Him. From the widow from Zarephath to the Syrophoenician woman, all opened their hearts and surrendered their will to God; and He did amazing miracles in their lives. Unfortunately in our time, we need the blessings and miracles of God but still holding on to our wills. For the work of salvation to be complete, it was not enough for the Lord Jesus Christ to say He does only what He sees His Father do. He needed to walk the talk! He had to enter the garden of Gethsemane to surrender the totality of Himself in order to put the final nail on the ‘coffin’ of the devil. Without the garden experience, He would not have been able to go to the Cross! If indeed Christ is our example, why do we think we can attain glory, supernatural breakthroughs and feats without going throu...

God’s Blessing

‘With my experience thus far, I believe God’s promises happen by chance’, someone exclaimed to me the other day! Hearing this made my heart heavy and sad because this reflects the reality on ground. You may argue that the person is not truly born again to believe this. But so many may not say it but their actions announce the statement loudly enough. The question that came to my mind when the statement was made was, can He that said we should not owe laborers their wages refuse to settle those that serve Him? Or better still, can He that said we should ask not have provisions for our demands? The truth is the reason why so many are frustrated and disillusioned with their serving God is that they are not truly serving Him but are serving their pastors and their ministries. No wonder they can stand and claim that the pastors favor some over them. If you love the Lord and your service is to Him, you will realize that the pasto...

Don’t Take God For Granted

Walking daily in uninterrupted victories as a child of God is exhilarating. This should embolden us to do more and go more for the Kingdom of God. At the same time, it is a time one must tread carefully because: “…whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall” (1Corinthians 10:12). A person that is careless in his/her stand can be tempted to think that the experience of uninterrupted victories is the result of having a much more closer relationship than anyone else with God or one is just plain perfect and cannot go wrong. This thought is erroneous and leads the person on a dangerous path of self-destruction. Throughout Scriptures, people that took God for granted got their fingers burnt: “Now these things happened to them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come” (1Corinthians 10:11). Being a born again child of God is not a status that excuses us from the consequences of wrong doing or an instrument to blackmail God wit...
