“How do I
know my call?” Are you presently asking this question? May I ask you: "where do
you hope to spend eternity?" The choice to spend it in either of two places
(heaven or hell) is made whilst we are here on earth. If you have made the
choice to spend it with the Lord then you must do well to live by His principles
here on earth! You might wonder how this is relevant to the question at hand. Do
understand that a call was given to everyone that believes in Him to go and
make disciples of ALL nations; the Judgement of the nations by Christ in Matthew
25:31-46 is based on this mandate. We have not been saved to sit in huddles and
comfortable pews but to go forth and MAKE disciples of men. Unfortunately, somewhere
along the way, the cause for which Jesus Christ died has become well…like the
Iditarod, a spectator sport, lots of activity but no thoughts about the lives
at stake… No wonder so many sit gripe and whine about what their call is or should
be when the primary call they have neglected. It was in his making disciples
that Paul was given the mandate to go to the Gentiles. What are you doing to
advance the Kingdom that you are desiring a ‘special call’? Friend the Bible
tells us in Ecclesiastes 11:4, 6 “One who watches the wind will not sow, and the
one who looks at the clouds will not reap...In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hand rest, because you don't know which will succeed, whether one or the other; or if both of them will be equally good.” Stop waiting for that special
moment that you will be announced to the world; start the work NOW! Jesus Christ gave a parable in Luke 10:25-37
that encapsulates what we have been called to do as His followers. Just like in the parable, so many have left
Jerusalem (the Presence of God) to go down to Jericho (the world). As a result,
so many became prey of darkness. No wonder the Bible says: darkness covers the
earth, gross darkness its people! We
cannot be hypocritical like the Priest and Levite in the parable and ignore the
people we come across daily that are beaten and left on the road to die. Just
like the Good Samaritan, we must pull off the road and help them. Those of us
who have been saved by the serum of the Gospel are responsible before God to
get that serum to those who are going to die without it. This calls for a deliberate
and conscious discipling of the people! Jesus Christ expects that the driving passion
of His people and His church will be the passion that kept Him on the cross: “…to
seek and save the lost’’ Luke 19:10. In a very real sense, we do hold their
eternities in our hand. The time is Now, do respond to the CALL! The GRACE to respond is released to you in Jesus Christ name.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
