Except God’s will becomes yours you cannot receive
revelations from Him that will help you in this journey of life. You may know
and be able to quote a lot of Scriptures, do all the right things; except your
will is subsumed in God’s they are just mere words and activities. When a
person is outside the will of God such cannot do well neither can such finish
well. So many teach and believe that their strength and intellect will
determine how they live and will end. Unfortunately, we have seen over and over
again that is not the case; everything concerning a man is not at his
prerogative but God’s. No wonder when Job had an encounter with the Almighty
God he repented in dust and ashes of the harsh words he had spoken concerning Him.
If a person had not had encounter with God, he believes all he needs is in his
hands and that is what will determine his end. You may do awesome and great
things but your end is determined by your stand with God. No wonder the
Psalmist said in Psalm 33:16-17: “A king
is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great
strength. The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its
great power.” Friend, you cannot be saved by the number of people you know,
your strength or abilities. Your qualifications and plans are vain hope for
your future. Jeremiah 9:23-24: “This is
what the Lord says: ‘The wise must not boast in his wisdom; the mighty must not
boast in his might; the rich must not boast in his riches. But the one who
boasts should boast in this, that he understands and knows Me – that I am the
Lord, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I
delight in these things.’ This is the Lord’s declaration.” God said this because the world
measures success in three criteria – wisdom, power and wealth.
Wisdom - the man communicates insights and influences others. Power – the man strives to gain
advantage over others. Wealth – the man accumulates and control wealth. However, the
verdict of God is that all these do not hold water without having knowledge of
Him. To know God is to have an encounter with Him and continue to live a life that
is pleasing to Him. Psalm 30:7 tells us that by the favour of God you are made
secure. Reliance on prosperity or feeling secure in temporal things is not only
false but also a path to destruction! When God withdrew His favour and mercies,
trouble stared him in the face and he was terrified. Saul and Jonathan were men
that lived successful lives according to the standards of the world but did not
finish well with God. All that remained after them by way of testimony is a
barren mountain. They were successes with the world but wretched with the Lord
(Revelation 3:15-22). David on the other hand left legacies that still live on
till this day. David was the only king that saw his son installed before he
died. Why? He was not only faithful to God’s word but he realized he was nothing
without God. Of course, the Lord blessed him and made him secure. As you run
this race, in all your planning and striving, make it all in the circle of God’s
will; then He will make you as He did David secure and favoured till the end. God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
