Listening to a man of God the other day explaining why he
believes the current discuss on sexual orientation is legitimate despite the
fact that it negates God’s word, was very disheartening. According to him, the ‘people’
have no choice in choosing whom to love. When it was pointed out to him that
this so called choice negates God’s word, he posited that the word of God was
evolving! This argument and many like it have led so many astray; and quite
frankly have undermined the integrity of the foundation of many. So as not to
get confused, God’s word is immutable and stands sure forever, it is equally settled in Heaven. Thus, it is not controversial neither does it evolve! God’s word is
pure and there is no lie. People like the above man of God that try to stretch
the word of God to have meanings and connotations that were never intended are
proved a lie by the same Word: “Every
word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Don’t add
to His words or He will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar”
(Proverbs 30:5-6).
Once a person’s spiritual foundation is faulty as a child of
God, such is open to the beatings of the elements and if care is not taken, is
destroyed. Don’t be deceived, our level of adherence to God’s word forms the
strength of our foundations. This cannot be faked as it will be tested. Your
spiritual foundation is not physically seen or can it be physically quantified.
No wonder we are seeing gay pastors, pedophiles, adulterers, fornicators,
cheats, embezzlers being exposed by God’s word within the Body. One may hide his spiritual foundation for awhile,
but when the testing comes the true person is revealed. Jesus Christ attested
to this in Matthew 7:24-27, when He likened our obedience to His word to two
men who built houses on the rock and sand. A testing came that tested the
foundation and structural integrity of each building. The one that built on a
foundation of deception was utterly destroyed. However, the one that built on
the rock stood the test and succeeded. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 30:5 that
God’s word is a shield to as many that take refuge in Him. God’s word is a
Person and He is the Christ. Friend what is the strength of your obedience as
this determines the strength of your foundation? Do you know that the issues
you may be currently facing as a child of God may be as a result of your
deception? How is your foundation? Are you quick to excuse your habits,
attitudes and actions by stretching God’s word because you are under the
erroneous impression that God’s word evolves? Do you get discouraged and
depressed at the drop of a hat yet you are a child of God? Do you equate your
joy and contentment to the physical things you are able to acquire and possess?
Do you obey God’s word only when it is convenient and look for very convenient
reasons to disobey? The answers to these and more will expose the true nature
of your foundation. One thing is for sure, either the foundation is solid or
not, both faced a testing.
Friend, enough of making excuses; it is time to take
another hard look at our foundations and readjust accordingly. Throughout Scriptures,
men that failed to do this had themselves to blame: “Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil excess, humbly
receive the implanted word, which is able to save you…the one who looks
intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a
forgetful hearer but a doer who acts – this person will be blessed in what he
does” (James 1:21 and 25). May the Lord grant you the grace to walk in
obedience to His word at all times in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
