Don’t Forget…Appropriate

“My soul, praise the Lord, and all that is within me, praise His holy name. My soul, praise the Lord, and do not forget all His benefits” (Psalm 103:1-2).
If you are an avid follower of current affairs around the world especially in the free-world, one would assume that certain things just don’t add up. Despite clear indices on the ground to predict outcome of certain pattern of events, it’s as if an unseen hand was playing a cruel joke on the predictors, by turning those indices on their heads. As children of God we discern that God is truly the one that controls the affairs of men, no matter how orderly their thinking and predictions are, He is able to overturn it to bring His counsel to pass. Only those who are in tune with Him see this and are not surprised by the outcomes they see. Those that are not, make predictions based on what they see and what they think should be, falsely claiming that it is divinely given to them. God cannot be mocked because He is the One: “Who destroys the omens of the false prophets and makes fools of diviners and confounds the wise and makes their knowledge foolishness” (Isaiah 44:25). However, for as many that are in tune with Him, walking with Him in truth, He is the One “Who confirms the message of His servant and fulfills the counsel of His messengers” (Isaiah 44:26). God is true and in Him there is no lie or falsehood. If we must succeed in these difficult times, then we must walk before Him in truth and the confidence that He has our best interests at heart.
When King David was forced to flee his throne and kingdom because of Absalom’s rebellion against his reign; he understood that the indices and the very predictable nature of the people will not restore his seat to him except the Lord steps into the situation. One would have expected Him to ask God questions concerning his situation after all God promised him and his sons the kingdom. Rather, he remained faithful to God, waiting on Him to restore his kingdom back to him. And God did!
Friend, you may be facing a situation you never saw coming, or you were very confident that things will go well for you because of the planning and hard work you had put in, but it didn’t! It’s quick and very convenient to blame God and go into self-pity. This position will only hurt you and push you further away from His Presence. We must know, understand and appropriate to ourselves the manifold blessings of God. He has promised to be with us in times of trouble, and this situation you are in is not an exception. Therefore, our souls must continue to praise Him and our hearts must deliberately believe every word of His. One thing is for sure, how do we appropriate a thing to our lives if we had forgotten about it? The Bible clearly tells us: “He forgives all your sin; He heals all your diseases. He redeems your life from the pit; He crowns you with faithful love and compassion. He satisfies you with goodness; your youth is renewed like the eagle” (Psalm 103:3-5). Men’s orderly thinking and their predictions will fail but God’s word remains forever and it will surely come to pass. Don’t forget it no matter what situation you find yourself, appropriate it! God bless you.

The Quarry Site Experience

Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences.  As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard.  The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through.  Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...

But You Did Not Learn Christ In This Way

I remember meeting a man of God in his office after the Sunday Services in his Church. I, like many others that day needed a few minutes with him. I was there at the instruction of the LORD to deliver a message. As we were talking, one of his Church workers came in and gave him a note. His face lit up, and he was very excited. I saw that there were sets of numbers written. I thought the numbers represented those who gave their lives to Christ, because many came out during the Altar Call to give and rededicate their lives to the LORD Jesus Christ. No! Apparently, they represent the number of people in attendance at each of the three services with the corresponding money collections realised.         They were not concerned about the souls that came out hungry for God! I was saddened by their excitement. They were not excited about the souls that came into the Kingdom of God; rather, they were rejoicing about their egos, ranks and bank a...

...And His Name Was Nabal

We live in a world that has short-term memory. The memory life span of many is so short, that mistakes and circumstances that brought them sorrow are repeated without a thought to the fact that what they are doing they had done before with dire consequences. As a result of this attitude, many have grown more wilful towards the things of God. One of the signs of the end time, according to 2 Timothy 3, is people being ungrateful. Being ungrateful means not showing gratitude for help, gifts or kindness they received; a feeling of entitlement to whatever they think they have received.         Being ungrateful is a state of mind that believes that the good things that happen to them is deserving, and they do not see any reason to be thankful for them. So was the case of a man named Nabal (which means 'Fool') in the Bible. He was a harsh and evil man in his dealings, yet a very wealthy man in the region he lived in. From the account of his l...
