If there was ever a time that sons of God needed to get
their senses trained in the things of God, it will be these times as the very
truth of God’s Word is being questioned even by those that ought to know.
Beloved, this issue is not about your calling or how long you have been in God’s
service, but how well your stand is in Him. As the coming of the Lord Jesus
Christ draws ever nearer, the enemy had stepped up his activities by denouncing
the truth of God’s Word; and this he does on a daily basis. The sad part of
this is that he has employed the services of some sons of God to discredit and
ridicule the Word of God. So many are unable to contend or stand in the faith
they claim to have because of pecuniary gains or they don’t even know the truth
they claim to profess! This is not new; at a point in time, Apostle Paul was
equally exasperated with the behavior of the Galatian disciples because of
their swing in faith and he said by the Holy Spirit “You foolish Galatians! Who has hypnotized you, before whose eyes Jesus
Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified?...Are you so foolish? After
beginning with the spirit, are you now going to be made complete by the flesh”
(Galatians 3:1, 3)? Beloved, your senses mature to the degree of how much you
allow God’s Word to train them.
King Solomon, by the Holy Spirit declared “There is an occasion for everything, and a
time for every activity under heaven; a time to give birth and a time to die…”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a). These verses allude to a process in between these
actions. It is expected that the time span between being born and dying, the
person will grow from being a baby and most probably to an adult, if the Lord
permits: Graduating from taking milk to taking solid food. The bottom line is
there is a growth process! As children of God, it is equally expected that from
the moment you became born again to when the Lord comes to take you to Himself,
your senses will mature. It is not expected that a living organism will remain
static without growth as this will be against nature. So it is with our senses
maturing: “Like newborn infants, desire
the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it in salvation” (1Peter 2:2), and “Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced
with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant. But solid food
is for the mature – for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish
between good and evil” (Hebrews 5:13-14).
Beloved, since you came to Christ,
how much have your senses matured? This is important or we would be tossed to
and fro at will by false and satanic teachers and their doctrines! Please
understand that evil may not be clearly seen except one’s senses have been
truly sharpened. This is important because we are told that satan disguises himself
as an angel of light and his servants as servants of righteousness (2Corinthians
11:14-15). Please note that it is not ‘sometimes’ but that is how he and his
servants appear. Thus, for us to recognize and reject him, his servants and his
message, we must have had our senses trained by God’s Word. Paul declared by
the Holy Spirit (based on what he had seen and experienced), “…Still I am not ashamed, for I know (perceive, have knowledge of,
and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in
and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and
keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed[to Him]
until that day” (2Timothy 1:12b, AMP).
Beloved, do you know (by
experiential knowledge and not what your leaders said of Him) Whom you claim to
believe? If you love Him, you will trust and obey Him even when it doesn’t make
sense to you. That is why we are His sheep of His pasture (Psalm 95:7) and not
goats! Hello, that is FAITH! If you are hesitant, or your faith and walk with
Him is dependent on the behaviors of your leaders or co-congregants, it means
you don’t know Him neither can you believe Him! Unfortunately, so many don’t,
that is why they stumble at elementary teachings of God’s Word! This is why we
are warned to mature in Him: “See to it
that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his
so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit, idle fancies and
plain nonsense), following human tradition (men’s ideas of the material rather
than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and
elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ
(the Messiah)” (Colossians 2:8, AMP). On that Day no man will be left
confused as we all, equally (no matter your calling or position in His
Vineyard), will stand before Him to receive reward for our actions and
inaction. Enough of taking milk and getting sidetracked by elementary and
carnal arguments of false teachers and satanists that seek to distort God’s
Word and His workings in your life; it is time to truly grow in Him so you can distinguish
between good and evil for yourselves because your true faith depends on it! God
bless you.
