There is a terrible and wicked cloud over our nation at this
time; the sons of God are being targeted and becoming prey for the sons of
perdition. It is not a time for rhetoric or grandstanding but to retreat into
the stronghold and hear what God is saying and to receive instruction as to
what must be done! But to do this successfully, there is a position we must be
in for our prayers to be effective: “Who
may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one
who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not set his mind on what is false
and who has not sworn deceitfully” (Psalm 24:2-3). It is good to call for
prayers of warfare, but we must understand that he who comes to the table of
equity must come with clean hands! Are we devoid of blame, of injustice,
corruption, falsehood and the likes in our midst (Isaiah 58)? As sons of God,
we must not forget that we serve the God of Justice. He shows no favoritism,
thus none can claim prerogative over Him. When king Solomon tried, God replied
thus: “…if My people who are called by My
name will humble themselves and pray and
seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven
and I will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The
dastardly acts that are being perpetrated for almost a decade now are on the
increase despite the prayers and curses of the sons of God. We face defeat on
this front daily. Something is grossly wrong! When Israel under Joshua in the
wilderness scouted the land of Ai, they decided that since the people of Ai
were few, only a selected group from the men of war should go and fight them.
Three thousand Israelites were chosen to face and rout the army of Ai.
Unfortunately, they were wrong and were roundly defeated! When Joshua and the
elders heard this, they put dust on their heads and laid on the floor crying to
God. God told Joshua that Israel was defeated because they had sinned by taking
an accursed thing and hidden it amongst their stuff in the camp. For that reason,
they have become prey for their enemies (Joshua 7)! Same thing is happening in
our land; instead of returning to God to ask why and how we can come out of
this predicament, the Joshuas and the elders of our land are laying on the
floor weeping and placing curses! Pray tell, the curses of almost a decade,
what reprieve has it brought? Rather, the more curses are laid, the more
precarious the situation of the sons of God. Has the God of Heaven, Whom we
believe, traveled or is deaf?! Where is the God that grants instant healing,
deliverance and prosperity? Beloved, something is grossly wrong! God’s standard
has not changed.
Someone argued that the God of the Old Testament is not the
same now. That argument or position is blasphemous because: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today
and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He has never changed and He is not about to
start now. God’s word is true and is eternal: “The entirety of Your word is truth; and all Your righteous judgments
endure forever” (Psalm 119:160). The way forward is not in cursing, but to
return to the Lord and ask for mercy. God’s people are never beaten in any
fight or confrontation. If they are, there is sin in the land and the Lord will
not fight for them. It is time to stand up individually and collectively and
ask God for mercy and repent of our evil ways as Daniel did for Israel. Carnality has crept into the House of God and corrupted the hearts of men;
making the leaders and the people of God a joke in the land: “We are ashamed because
we have heard insults, humiliation covers our faces because foreigners have
entered the holy places of the Lord’s Temple” (Jeremiah 51:51). Let us “stand
up on our knees” and ask the Lord of Heaven for forgiveness and mercy so He can
heal and reclaim our land! The Lord is looking for a man whose heart is loyal to Him that would do this.
Please, be that one man: “For the eyes of
the Lord range throughout the earth to show Himself strong for those whose
hearts are completely His” (2Chronocles 16:9). God bless you.
