We now live in days of great distress and anguish across the
land. We hear of and see killings, maiming, suicides, kidnappings and many more deadly
crimes being committed daily. The economy is nothing to write home about. Many
do not see hope! Sadly, many sons of the Kingdom, in order to make ends meet,
dabble into business schemes they shouldn’t. Many are in the process of losing
their homes, means of livelihood, relationships and many more. Beloved, you may
have done everything you can but it’s as if everything is slipping away from you.
There are so many messages about why people should work hard in order to make
it. You have worked, you are still working hard. But the results on ground tell
a different story. Beloved if you are in this situation, don’t despair because
help is on the way. What is happening to you, the pressures of life, is not
strange. It is a gimmick of hell to pressurize as many to turn from the path of
righteousness to the path of wickedness.
Paul by the Holy Spirit puts it more
clearly when he said: “We are hedged in
(pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped
or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way
out, but not drawn to despair; we are pursued (persecuted and hard driven) but
not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground but never
struck out or destroyed” (2Corinthians 4:8-9, AMP). No matter what the
enemy threw at him and his team, there was a ‘but’, signifying ‘HELP’ which
always comes to their rescue. Hannah, in 1Samuel 1 was in a similar situation.
She was pressed, bullied, suffered embarrassments daily and unable to find a
way out. All because she could not have a child! Now, the Bible did not tell us
how long she was married, but we know she was the first wife. Since the second
wife (Penninah) could have children, it meant something was wrong with Hannah!
One could only imagine her pain and embarrassment when the husband brought in
the second wife and she started having children! And the pain that must have
pierced her heart when her husband, in trying to console her said: “’Hannah, why are you crying?’ her husband
Elkanah asked. ‘Why won’t you eat? Why are you troubled? Am I not better to you
than 10 sons?’” (1Samuel 1:8). Can you imagine how Hannah must have felt?
Instead of lashing out at her husband, she arose after eating to go meet the
One Person that can truly help her out of her dilemma.
The Bible tells us that
it was God that kept her from conceiving: “Her
rival would taunt her severely just to provoke her because the Lord had kept
Hannah from conceiving” (1Samuel 1:6). Beloved, you have been complaining
to family, friends, colleagues expecting them to help you. Getting angry at them because they are not helping in the way you had hoped! In fact, rather than help, you and your situation
have become a talking point and a laughing stock to them. Understand this, oh child of
God: “Your eyes saw me when I was
formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one
of them began” (Psalms 139:16). This means He has the answers to everything
that you face because He made you, He planned your days, and thus, He has the
blueprint of your life!
Hannah finally understood this and sought the face of
the Lord, devoid of bitterness against anyone, but genuine anguish for her
predicament. And the Lord answered! Therefore, don’t despair or lose heart,
rather take action: “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your
hearts before Him. God is our refuge (Psalms 62:8). Beloved, go to Him, devoid
of anger, bitterness and pour your pain out to Him. He is with you and He will
not only hear, He will answer: “God has
spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You, O
Lord, belongs mercy; for You render to each one according to his work”
(Psalms 62: 11-12). God bless you!
