One of the greatest tricks the enemy ever pulled was to deceive man into thinking he does not really need God in certain aspects of his life. He started this deceit in the beginning, when he told the Woman: “’No! You will not die,’ the serpent said to the woman. In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil’” (Genesis 3:4-5). This lie has made many wonderful children of God to erroneously place their hope in people, themselves, institutions and the likes with dire consequences, or to lose hope altogether. A young man once argued with a group of his friends that there were some things about the human race God does not bother Himself with. These things, according to him, have been left to our discretion. God has given us brains and wisdom to figure out some things for ourselves, and to take decisions based on our convictions. To buttress his point, he quoted: “The heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth He has given to the human race” (Psalm 115:16). Based on that Scripture he believes man has the authority to decide some things for himself! This argument is simply not true!
The earth given to man was for man to have dominion, be an ambassador of God on it so to say: “God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky and every creature that crawls on the earth” (Genesis 1:28). And for there to be harmony on the earth, God gave rules for us to live by. Every sin man commits is not against the things he is to dominate but against God and his fellow human being. That is why the whole instruction of God is summed up in ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself’. If one can do this successfully, then one is truly perfect. The Bible tells us: “The heavens, indeed the highest heavens, belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it” (Deuteronomy 10:14). Also: “…This is so the living will know that the Most High is ruler over the kingdom of men. He gives it to anyone He wants and sets over it the lowliest of men” (Daniel 4:17b). This means no one comes to rule over a people without God’s say so. He owns the earth and all that is in it: “Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God” (Romans 13:1). At no point did the Lord surrender the ruler-ship or ownership of the earth to any of His created beings. When the devil claimed: “So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. The devil said to Him, ‘I will give You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. If You, then, will worship me, all will be yours’” (Luke 4:5-7). It was not so from the beginning! The devil made this audacious claim because of the fall of man in the beginning. This is why the Bible tells us: “For You have put everything in subjection under his feet. Now in putting everything in subjection to man, He left nothing outside [of man’s] control. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him [man]” (Hebrews 2:9, AMP).
Because of lack of understanding of who they are and their stand as sons of God, many gave up hope concerning their situations. So many are hustling and running races that were never set for them. Some are in situations they should have gotten out of, if like Moses they realized what was in their hands. Sadly, many pray, but in their hearts they doubt if God will really come through for them. Beloved, that is a lie from the pit of hell. God is All Mighty and not Some Mighty. He is either the LORD of All or of none. But we KNOW He is the LORD of ALL: “The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours. The world and everything in it – You founded them” (Psalm 89:11). If He didn’t have a say on the happenings on the earth, He would not have asked us to pray thus: “Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9b-10). This means, we need to seek His will concerning all that pertains to us on earth and pray it to be because IT IS ALREADY SETTLED IN HEAVEN!
Beloved, do you know the will of God is for you to live in victory in all areas of your life? Sadly, many sons of God plan for pain and failure as if it is the will of God for them to live thus. You and I have a mandate to seek His will, not ours, and to pray it come to pass in our lives, family, communities and Nations. That which you seek, oh wonderful child of God, is not dead! Don’t listen to the evil whispering of darkness or the wicked threats of hell, the LORD Jesus Christ has risen for your defense and people will come to know that you are loved and highly favored of the Most High God, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
