A Call To Pray

With all that is going on in our nation, this is not the time to pray but for action, someone said recently. This sentiment, sadly, has been echoed up and down the length and breadth of the country. However, this sentiment, no matter how much sense it seems to make is not right. This is precisely the time we must pray as a people to God to bring back our nation from the brink of a certain disaster as we approach the general elections slated for next year!
We must understand that as long as the house is divided, it cannot stand. The Body of Christ in this nation is divided, and the nation as a whole is sharply divided among tribal and religious lines. A microcosm of what is happening in our country presently took place in Israel during the days of the Judges. The Bible tells us: "In those days, there was no king in Israel; everyone did whatever he wanted" (Judges 21:25). Looking around the country, it looks like there are no laws, or deliberate inaction on the part of the authorities to allow anarchy to reign for a particular agenda or outcome.
A Levite that lives in the mountains of Ephraim took a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah. When he was returning home with his bride, he had to spend the night in Gibeah which belongs to Benjamin. He and his bride and servant were taken in by an elderly man so that they would not spend the night in the town square. At night, the men of the town surrounded the old man's house and demanded that he should send out the priest so they could rape him! The old man offered these depraved men his virgin daughter and the priest's bride, but they refused. The priest then brought out his bride to them. They raped her all night long and left her for dead (sadly, this is the state of our nation). The priest took her home, sectioned her into 12 parts representing the 12 tribes of Israel and sent the body parts to all the tribes. This outrage caused the whole of Israel to rally against Benjamin. And God gave them victory against the depraved men (Judges 19-20) because they stood as one against the outrage and wickedness.
Beloved, as a people, as sons of God in this nation, we MUST rally against the evil, unreasonable, mindless and dangerous demons using depraved and arrogant people that have ravaged and are still ravaging our nation. As sons of God, would we remain in our silos playing denomination, tribalism, concern for money and fame thinking we will be safe in our silos, or we will respond like the children of Israel and stand up against this terrible carnage done to our nation as the children of Israel did?
We must put our sentiments of denominationalism, tribe and class aside and fight for our nation on our knees. Understand this, our fight is not against the mindless thieving horde but against the devil and his agents controlling and using them to destroy our nation: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12). As good as it is to get our instrument to vote, we must equally stand our ground: "For although we live in the natural realm, we don't wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defences behind which people hide. We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One" (2Corinthians 10:3-5, TPT).
We must understand that the future of our country is at stake, and if we as sons of God refuse to close ranks and seek the face of God, our nation's future state will be worse than it ever was. Don't be deceived, the enemy has a plan for what you may think is disorganisation or chaos.
The enemy and his agents may think they have decided the fate of Nigeria in their secret meetings, but by the grace of God, their manipulations, and evil agendas are exposed and thwarted, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 22:15-25). Beloved, in your little corner, home, neighbourhood, schools, workplace, ministry, Fellowships, Bible Study Groups and Churches, let us raise our voices in one accord and bring down the arrogant plans of darkness concerning our beloved nation. When we do this truthfully, as one, we are assured that God Almighty will hear, answer us, forgive us, fight for us and heal our land. God bless you, and bless our nation, Nigeria! Maranatha!
