To the glory of God, if the Lord tarries, the
year 2012 is winding up. Our sincere prayer is that we will go through the rest
of the year without any mishap and enter the year 2013 prepared like conquering
warriors. If I may ask, under God, how did you fare in your walk with the Lord
from the beginning of the year till date? You might argue – only God knows!
That is not true and will simply not do! The Bible tells us to examine ourselves
to see if we are still in the faith. You don’t need someone else to examine you;
you can, with the help of the Holy Spirit know your stand with God. However, if
we lack this knowledge and refuse to examine our past and present walk with
God then we are bound to repeat the same cycle again. So many desire to serve
the Lord better and have a better grip on their life in Christ but if such lack knowledge
then it will just be a mere dream that will not see the light of day. “Therefore My people go into exile because
they lack knowledge; the dignitaries are starving and the masses are parched with
thirst. Therefore Sheol enlarges its enormous jaws and down go Zion’s dignitaries,
her masses, her crowds and those who carouse in her.” Isaiah 5:13-14. This
Scripture paints a grim but realistic picture. A lot of God’s children are
living below the standard of God physically and spiritually and they wonder
why. Of course they lodge the blame firmly at the front door of the enemy. But from
the above Scripture the basic foundational reason why this is happening is
because those that ought to know lack knowledge, as a result they are starving
and walk into hell unsuspectingly. They are pushed off their stability and head
for exile! This is sad and all the more so because it could be avoided. The
desire of our God is not for us to barely live and then end up in hell. If that
is His desire, then His death would have been in vain. He actually came to give
us life abundantly – to enjoy on all fronts; and at the end to reign with Him.
However, my friend, it is not something we can wish for, dream or yell about
but something we will make a conscious effort to purposefully go and get. Christ
had this in mind for us when He admonished us to “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is
broad that leads to destruction and there are many who go through it. How
narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14.
It is easier to relax in a lifestyle that negates the word of God than to go in
pursuit of the knowledge of God. But to be among the few that would find the road and remain on it, we must
rise up and make a conscious effort to break free from the status quo of a form
of religion but denying the power. Friend, coming to and living for Christ is
not business as usual, we must daily live a life that is worthy of Him or will
be in danger of walking in ignorance in regards to the Kingdom dynamics. The Bible
tells us to buy and not sell truth, wisdom, instruction and understanding. How
do we sell – by compromising the truth of God for fleshly gains. How do we buy –
when we consciously and purposely chase after God to know Him more. Will you be
among the few that would find this life and purposely live for Him? Rhetoric,
head knowledge and pretence will not cut it but a conscious standing up to go
and get the truth and live by it, then we are assured of a victorious and
glorious 2013 (if He tarries) in Jesus Christ name! God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
