Severally we find ourselves in
situations that seem to spiral out of our control no matter what we do. I can
imagine the frustration in the heart of the widow when she came crying to
Elisha in 2Kgs 4:1; she had lost her husband that feared the Lord and now, the
creditors were coming to take her children from her. She had nowhere else to go
but to turn to the Lord. If we look at the story critically, we will realize
that she was not asking for help but came to lay her grievances at the feet of
the man of God but actually indirectly accusing God of abandoning His servant
that had served Him faithfully. She said “Your
servant, my husband has died. You know that your servant feared the Lord. Now
the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.” This was not
a cry for help but an accusation against God and His prophet by a widow that
was at a loss as to what to do. She was lashing out at Whom she thought should
have helped her.
This position is always the position of most children of God when
faced with challenges beyond their control. The prayers of such are laced with
reminders of how they have served faithfully; some may even go as far as laying
conditions for their service and even ultimatums. If you are in that position,
please repent, relocate and take an appropriate position in order to receive
help from above. The resources we receive from the Lord are not as a result of
our righteous deeds or that we deserve them but God that shows mercy. Humanly
speaking, we would have declared that the woman should receive a rebuke just as
Martha received a rebuke when she said her brother Lazarus would not have died
if Jesus had been with them. However just like Mary who made the same statement
and got a resurrection, so the widow got a miraculous and supernatural
provision. Friend, it is not by accusing God or the people of God that will get
Him to move on your behalf but by the mercy of God. Mercy located that woman
that day and her story was turned around. Friend, everywhere the creditors have
gathered against you either physically or spiritually to take that which belong
to you, just as Mercy rose to the defense of the woman, so may Mercy rise up in
your defense in Jesus Christ name. Like the widow and Joshua the high priest,
the enemy may have legitimate rights to you, but because you have chosen to
stand before Him the enemy and his cohorts are rebuked for your sake and all
that you had lost is restored to you in Jesus Christ name. Rise up and be who
God has called you to be. God bless you.
