Deception of Hyper-Grace by David and Nancy Ravenhill

Someone wisely stated, “The church has suffered more from her exponents than from her opponents.” This is certainly the case today, as we are seeing an onslaught of dangerous teaching sweeping through the body of Christ like never before. We have the graphic and prophetic picture of the serpent in Revelation pouring water like a river out of his mouth in order to sweep away the woman (Rev. 12:15-16). This, to me, speaks of the false river the enemy is attempting to use to deceive the church in these last days. Thank God that He has promised, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him” (Is. 59:19, NKJV). One of the enemy’s wiles is to take something that is inherently good and seek to make it appear better. The hyper-grace message is a prime example of this. What is more amazing than grace? Nothing sets Christianity apart more than the message of grace. None of us would ever know our magnificent Savior and Lord without His ...

Lets Ponder On This: How harmless is that ‘fib’?

When I read certain testimonies they challenge me to do better in my walk and work with the Lord. One such testimony is the one given by Christ Himself about Nathanael one of His disciples: “Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, ‘see! Here is an Israelite indeed [a true descendant of Jacob], in whom there is no guile nor deceit nor falsehood nor duplicity!’” John 1:47 (AMP). What a great testimony! This goes to show that God knows each of us, His testimony of us is always the truth and no one can pretend before Him. It then follows that we must walk before Him in truth no matter where we find ourselves. There is no ‘off time’ with God. Our walk is meant to be with integrity at all times. With this in mind, one wonders why we get comfortable in saying things that are not true and go on as if nothing has occurred. The world calls it diplomacy, white lies and fibs. No matter how they are colored, they are LIES! These are statements that the world calls insignificant or harmless but ar...

Why The Offence…?

Have you ever wondered what makes one stumble in his/her service to God? One would expect that as one is serving, things should happen as expected and as planned, however the reverse is most times the case. The mind of the natural human expects things to always go according to his/her plan. Such carry this mindset into the service of God and get very disappointed and even offended at God when certain things don’t go according to plan. The reality is that we cannot serve God effectively with our human senses. The reason being, many times, the instructions of God do not make sense to the natural mind. If we refuse to let go of our minds and take on the mind of Christ, the tendency is to take offence at God when certain things don’t go our way.  An incident happened in the Scriptures to buttress this: “Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto Him, Art thou He that should come or do we look for another?” Matthew 11: 2-3. ...

Identity Crisis 2

We live in a competitive, selfish and short-sighted world where everything is done to impress the next person. Now, some will call it healthy because it propels one to strive for more. The question we should ask ourselves as children of God is whose standard are we trying to match or beat? This was not the original intention of God. If evil and wickedness prevail in this generation, it is because we, the light-bearers are no longer shining tall and bright; we whose language ought to be truth and righteousness no longer uphold what has been committed to us by Christ; we who ought to be god-like, God’s very own reflection, now suffer identity crisis.  In Genesis 1:26-27: “God spoke: ‘Let us make human beings in our own image, make them reflecting our nature, so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of the Earth.’ God created human beings; He created them godlike, refl...

Identity Crisis 1

“Who are you?!” That was the question passenger A asked passenger B, his opponent during a bus-fight. I was so eager to here the reply of passenger B but he never answered the question. Right there, I kept thinking what the reply to the question would have been if I were asked such. We must have asked or have been asked this question numerous times in the course of our day-to-day activities, but so many never really take time to think of what the answer could be. Some tend to answer by defining themselves by their occupation rather than their identity. Who you truly are sheds light on your actions and the things you say! In Acts 19:14-15, this question was asked the seven sons of Sceva by a demon. They could not answer the question. Was it that they didn’t know who they were or they were just short of words? Maybe one of them should have said: ‘I am Simon Sceva’ or something, which may have stopped the demon from beating them up! As funny as their story always sound, have you ever...

Walking in God’s Confidence

Several times as children of God we are buffeted by the storms of life that we wonder if God can really hear us. The pain gets so devastating that we consider throwing in the towel at the slightest provocation at this point. Some of us declare that this was not what they expected or sign for, thus, they look for every way to bail out.   Friend, there will always be storms whether you are in Christ or not. The difference and consolation we have is that in Christ, He is with us all the way.   He promised in His word that He would never leave nor forsake us. The Bible clearly tells us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12) but against wicked spirits in high places. They inhabit certain situations to torment us but if we fail to understand and see that God had promised not to leave nor forsake us, there is the tendency to become a victim. Are you buffeted by debts, your promotion withheld, you have done everything but cannot find a decent and befittin...

Chase ME!

“Jesus…You mean more than this world to me. I wouldn't trade You for silver nor gold. I wouldn't trade You for riches untold. You mean more than this world to me.” This is part of a song we sing in worship of Jesus Christ. But how true are these words to us as we sing them? Does your heart truly pant for Him regardless of what is around you? Every where Jesus Christ went the crowds gathered to hear Him speak. They heard how He healed the sick, delivered those afflicted with demons and how He preached in a manner that was unlike the Scribes and the Pharisees. This Jesus was indeed worth seeing, thus they gathered to Him from all works of life, from every nook and cranny of Palestine with their sick in tow. If we were to compare what was happening then to our time, we would declare that Jesus was a very charismatic speaker that had power to attract large audiences everywhere He went. We would either assume or conclude that He was courting the crowds so they could kee...
