Have you ever wondered why there is so much darkness in the world? It looks as if darkness is gaining momentum at places of work, neighborhoods, schools etc. The Bible tells us in John 1:5 that the Light shines in darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it. This simply means the darkness could not cover or extinguish the Light. If this is the case: why is it that children of God, carriers of the Light are either covered or almost extinguished in their places of work, schools or neighborhoods? If the children of God refuses to testify about Who Jesus Christ is at their localities, then it is a matter of time before the Light they carry becomes covered or extinguished. Our testimony is our defence against a dark world, not our pockets or what we own (Revelations 12:11)! As Believers, God expects us to know His will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of His voice. So that we can be effective witnesses for Him to all people of what we had seen and heard (Acts 22:14-15). Friend, before you were born, the Lord called you to make you His ambassador to this world. Just as He said to Paul in Acts 26:16-18a so we must do: “But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and a witness of things you have seen and of things in which I will appear to you. I will rescue you from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God". There is a need therefore, to rise up from complacency, stand on your feet and go for Him: in your offices, homes, schools, neighborhoods. It is not until you get a fancy title before you can carry out this instruction; this instruction is for all children of God. Look again at the promise attached to it. It might be that the reason you are facing so much opposition at your place of work, school, business, neighborhood is because you are yet to testify about Him to the people and the Gentiles around you! On what grounds then do you want Him to rescue you from their attacks when you are not committed to Him and are laid back concerning the instruction? Paul and the godly men of old stood up and went; and the Lord rescued them from the people and the Gentiles around them until their mission on earth was completed. What is your testimony exactly, as a child of God? It is not only to declare how good God had been to you but how you have fared in carrying out this instruction. The testimony of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Ruth, Sarah, Rahab, Paul and Peter was not in the amount of cattle, gold, silver and slaves they had but how faithful they were to the Lord’s instruction! God was so pleased with them, that He was not ashamed to be called their God. Rise up and testify about all that He had shown you so as to drive back the darkness and open the eyes of the people around you. God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
