Is it possible to do this? Paul declared in
Romans 7:19 (MSG) “I decide to do good but I don’t really do it; I decide not
to do bad, but then I do it anyway.” A lot of children of God can relate to this situation. This is as a result of sin that is dwelling in the heart of man. Even when the man does not want to carry out the sin, the circumstances he finds himself makes it a near impossibility. The truth is we live in an evil world; since we are not part of it we therefore
cannot afford to let its customs and systems entrap us. In 1John 2:24-27, the
Lord reminded us to hold on to what we have heard from the beginning as this is
the only way we can remain in Him: since the Anointing we received when we
believed remains in us then He will teach us all things. By 1John 3:3, He
declared that those that have this hope of being like Him and going with Him
when He appears must purify themselves from the things of this world. There is
no compromising this standard, if we must recognize Him when He comes, then we
must be like Him in character and deeds. In a world that is so technologically
advanced in sin and evil, so many children of God had succumbed to its lures
and traps. Friend, if it were NOT possible for us to live a life of purity then
Christ should not have come in the first place! The Bible tells us in
1John5:5-6 (AMP) “You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to
take away (upon Himself) sins, and in Him there is no sin (essentially and
forever). No one who abides in Him (who lives and remains in communion with and
in obedience to Him – deliberately, knowingly and habitually) commits
(practices) sin. No one who (habitually) sins has either seen or known Him (recognized,
perceived or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him).”
Friend, this is the crux of the matter. If it were not possible to permanently
cut away from sin Christ would not have come. The Bible tells us in Matthew 1:21 “She
will give birth to a son and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save
His people from their sins.” In Acts 3:26 we were told “God raised up His Servant
and sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your evil
ways.” To the ears of some it is and does sound impossible. There is no way one
can live in this world and not commit sin. This is not true; this is the very reason why the Master went to the Cross to put this idea to shame and death. Thus, the
obligation is now on us to take advantage of the finished work of Christ on the
Cross and walk in it. We don’t have to be trapped or ensnared by the dark deeds
of darkness once we turn our backs to it. 2 Timothy 2:19 (AMP) declares “But
the firm foundation of (laid by) God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this
seal (inscription): The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who
names (himself by) the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof
from it.” This is a conscious effort on our part. Once we make up our minds
then Grace is released unto us to remain standing no matter the odds. Don’t allow
the whisperings and misgivings of the world entrap you into thinking it is
impossible to live a sinless life. Take your stand and Heaven will back you up! God

I remember meeting a man of God in his office after the Sunday Services in his Church. I, like many others that day needed a few minutes with him. I was there at the instruction of the LORD to deliver a message. As we were talking, one of his Church workers came in and gave him a note. His face lit up, and he was very excited. I saw that there were sets of numbers written. I thought the numbers represented those who gave their lives to Christ, because many came out during the Altar Call to give and rededicate their lives to the LORD Jesus Christ. No! Apparently, they represent the number of people in attendance at each of the three services with the corresponding money collections realised.
