A praise song goes thus: “My eyes have seen, my
ears have heard, my mouth will talk about the goodness of God…” but it is sad
to know that a lot of us have indeed seen, known and experienced the goodness
of Jesus Christ and still find it difficult to talk about Him. God said in
Isaiah 43:10 (AMP) – “You are My witnesses …and My servants whom I have chosen,
that you may know Me, believe Me and remain steadfast to Me and understand that
I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.”
Also in Acts 1:8 (AMP) “But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency and
might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be My witnesses in
Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the
earth.” We are chosen and endowed with the Holy Spirit not just to acquire
things or be in a state of well-being but to be His WITNESSES! This is the intention
of God from the very beginning. To be a witness means to see, hear and
accurately give an account of what had been seen or heard. To be effective
witnesses of the Lord we must know and believe Him personally; come to handle
and testify that indeed His Word and Ways are TRUE – having an experiential knowledge
of the Most High God. To have this knowledge of Him is to obey His commands. Apostle
John declared (which must equally be our confession) “What was from the beginning, what we heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed, and have touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life - that life was revealed
and we have seen it and we testify and declare to you the eternal life that was
with the Father and was revealed to us – what we have seen and heard we also
declare to you, so that you may have fellowship along with us; and indeed our
fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” 1John1:1-3.
Friend, how much of Him do you know, do you believe Him? Is your belief system
based on what you can see and touch? If you are such a person then you are still
carnal! Sons of God do not need to handle or see before they believe or know;
they walk by faith and are led by the Spirit of God. Have you come in contact
with Him as Paul did and never remained the same again? The woman by the well
could not get over her encounter with the Master and all she kept saying was ‘come
and see a man that told me all about my life.’ When other disciples left the
Master, the 12 did not for two reasons: they BELIEVED and KNEW the Holy Son of
God. No wonder they were fiery witnesses that did not mince their words nor
flinch from their oppressors and persecutors. Friend what have you been saying
about Him? If you claim to know Him, then you must shout it abroad in your
daily living. Have you not read that we are the living epistles that men read? The more you know Him, the more effective you
will be in your witnessing. Remember, you are not your own, but have been
chosen to spread the fragrance of Jesus Christ. God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
