Have you ever experienced a situation when you
tell a man on the street that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and they make
jest of you? Some go as far as practically quoting 2 Peter 3:4 (unknowingly) sarcastically asking when is He coming, after all from the time they could
remember it has been said He is coming. So does so many in the Body of Christ,
they mouth His coming but their actions belie the truth. So many try to prepare
for the eventualities of life but very few are preparing for The Day. No matter
what scientists, philosophers and star gazers say, Jesus Christ is coming back
AGAIN. If I may ask, beyond the looking forward to a more fulfilling job,
arrival of a new car, financial breakthroughs, fulfilling relationships, how
prepared are you for His coming? In Malachi 3:1, the Word of God talks about
the sudden coming of the Lord to His temple. You might say there is a delay but
in 2Peter 3:15a we see that the delay is for our salvation so that no man would
have an excuse at His appearing. The Bible says “like a thief in the night He
will come…” This means the world will be caught unawares. But as children
of the Most High God, this day must not come on us as a surprise but we must
look forward to that day by living holy and godly lives. This is nonnegotiable
because the word of God is clear that no sinner will behold His face for He is
Holy! Unfortunately, a lot of children of God have lost their sense of urgency
for the quest for carnal and perishable things. That is why the Lord in Matthew
6:33 commands us to “…seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His Kingdom and
His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things
taken together will be given you besides.” (AMP) This was not an advice but a
command! What do you seek on a daily basis: your daily bread and your
well-being? Friend, we must seek Him as our vital need and necessity on a daily
basis. “And the Lord whom you seek shall
suddenly come to His temple.” He is coming, and no stopping Him! The truth is
if you truly seek Him then you will wait and earnestly desire His appearing
with joy. No matter how sudden it may be,
His awaited sudden appearance will not take you by surprise when you actually
seek Him. If the sound of His coming fills your heart with trepidation or you
constantly search for a reason why He should not come now, then it is important
you find the essence of your living and trace your steps back to God. Everything
you see around you today is winding to a close and time is running out, but it
is sad to note that a lot of God’s children are not aware of the times we are
in. Every word of God concerning us is true but we must walk in spirit and in
truth with God so as not to miss out on the glorious appearance and marriage
feast of the Lamb. If I may ask you again under God, what do you seek? Or what
are you seeking? Jesus is coming back again and He is already through the door,
how prepared are you? Everything you see in the world will melt away. Is this
going to be the kind of system that you are going to be bound to or you would rather
set your affections on the system of God’s Kingdom that endures forever?
Friends, it is time we re-focus and invest our entire lives into God and His
Kingdom. I do believe God has brought this message your way to do you good. It
is foolishness to invest your whole life in a system that will melt away.
Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me because He is at my right
hand, I shall not be moved.” Make the Lord your priority today and see God move
on your behalf. At the same time “…make every effort to be found in peace
without spot or blemish before Him.” -2Peter3:14b. The return of the Lord is at
hand! Let us endeavour to live a life that is worthy of Him and when He comes we
will not be ashamed! God bless you as you prepare your heart for His return.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
