There is an awesome day coming for
every true son and daughter of God who has pressed through the darkness of this
present age, faithfully following the Light of the world – Jesus. It is a day
filled with more joy and excitement than the much celebrated cross over night
into a new year. A day we would experience the reality of God making all things
new and wiping every tear from our eyes. Just the imagination of what it would
look like would send waves of joy into anyone’s heart. Indeed it’s a day not to
be missed, a day we must yearn for, when Jesus would be openly revealed to His
own. A day that Heaven will roar with the resounding shout of victory and death
itself will respond to His voice. Scriptures describes the events that will
take place in this way “for the Lord
Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first,
then we which are alive shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to
meet together with the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with Lord”
1Thessalonians 4:16 & 17.
His coming will be glorious and
His reward indescribable, however, preparing ourselves and others for that day
will not come to us on a platter of gold. We must become militant with our
faith! On a daily basis we are surrounded with so much to distract us from an
earnest and sincere expectation of Christ’s return. Unfortunately, anyone who
is complacent in his or her Christian walk becomes easy target for the enemy. But
as soldiers of Christ we are called to arm ourselves with the mind of Christ,
take our stand against the wiles of the devil and laying aside all that easily
entangles and weigh us down. No matter how fierce the battles we face or how
pressing the needs we have, we must remember the prize set before us. Friend, there
is nothing compared to the glory ahead of us. It is for the hope of this day
that Jesus Christ went to the cross: Allowing Himself to be despised disdained
and dying a criminal’s death so that no one will fall short of all that the
Father has prepared. This is the hope presented to us in the gospel. Therefore,
in obedience to the Lord, we must encourage one another daily (Hebrews 10:25),
live a holy life (2 Peter 3:11-13), stay awake and earnestly waiting (1 Thessalonians
5:1-11). As we prepare to see and celebrate the end of the year if the Lord
tarries, praising and thanking Him for all the mercies and grace we have
received, we must equally remember and remind those in our sphere of influence that
His coming is closer now than it ever was. Hebrews 10:37 says “yet a
little while and He that shall come will come and will not tarry. Now the
just shall live by faith but if any man draws back My soul shall have no
pleasure. But we are not of them that draw back unto perdition, but of them
that believe to the saving of the soul”. Friends, this scripture plainly declares the time we have left to His
coming is just a little while. The power and passion to live totally for Him is
once more released into your hearts in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
