As
children of God, we are faced with myriads of problems that so many begin to second
guess their faith in God. One begins to wonder if indeed God cares; if He does
why do one experience one problem after another. Let us consider a particular
scenario. Sitting under a light bulb in the cool breeze of an evening in the
savannah just before the rains begin in earnest, you would notice myriads of
insects attracted by the light flocking round the bulb. Some of the insects get
too close to the heat emanating from the bulb and die, others lose their wings
and some just continue to flock round the light bulb for awhile. Later as the
evening wears on into the night, the insects that were once attracted to the
light are either dead, incapacitated or they had flown away. This calls to mind
the scripture that says “You are the
light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a
lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lamp-stand, and it gives light
for all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:14-15). The fact that you are a
child of God, it is expected that you would shine your light wherever you are
situated for all to see. It is against the nature of light to be hidden, it
must illuminate in order to drive the darkness back at the same time it
attracts some unwanted guests. But notice one thing, just like the insects are
attracted to the light so are problems attracted to the child of God. If like
the light bulb, one is undaunted in his or her faith, once the problems come
too close to the light we carry, it burns off, incapacitated or just simply
flies away. Friend, no matter what you are going through, remain steadfast in
your faith with the mindset that it shall come to pass: Either it dies, incapacitated
or it will simply disappear as suddenly as it had appeared. No wonder the Bible
reminds us in Hebrews 10:35-39 not to throw away our confidence but to endure
whilst carrying out the will of God. The same Scripture assures us that the
Lord will come to our rescue but He will not be pleased if we shrink back as it
proves that we do not have faith in Him. This light is our testimony and faith
in God to face all obstacles in the name and blood of Jesus Christ. Darkness
has held this world in its sway for too long, it is time for you to arise and
rebuke every form and appearance of it from your life and your vicinity. Just
as we saw with the light bulb and the insects, the problems will either be
destroyed, incapacitated or simply be blown away. Don’t be discouraged, this
that you are going through shall pass! God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
