Brain Power is Failing

Certain happenings in our time and around the world define rational explanation; so many have questioned the existence of God and some are wondering if God has indeed abandoned His creation. We may accuse God of a lot of things but the truth is our God is compassionate and beyond reproof. Because of the happenings around us, we are being counseled to use our brains to figure out what our next move would be after all, they rationalize, wisdom is profitable to direct. When such remarks are made, I wonder what our responses would have been if we lived in the days of Daniel, Moses, Job, David, Joseph and the Apostles. The happenings at those times defied logic and these men had brains, but at no time did we see them apply their brain matter to the issues that were confronting them; rather they turned to God for direction. Surprisingly, they were successful for it! For those of us advocating the use of our brain power in dire and difficult times, if I may ask: What good would the brain power of Daniel had done faced with the then ruler of the world insisting that Daniel and everyone else MUST bow to his image or face death, or when Moses faced the Red Sea with the children of Israel numbering in their thousands and the armies of Egypt on chariots pursuing and almost catching up with them, or what good would the brain power of Job had done to turn his situation around with no strength (having advanced in age), no investments and no succor from his friends? What about Abraham and several others, that had given up on ever having children, yet they came? Oh, don’t let’s forget when the whole army of the nation Israel stood against one man giant called Goliath, I wonder what happened to their brain power! The economies of present nations and recent political happenings around the world are defying logic. It’s as if every measure to ‘resolve’ the issues ends up in escalating the situations despite the amount of brain power employed!

              Maybe, you are in such dilemma as well. Maybe, like the children of Israel, faced with so many challenges and all your brain power of planning, permutations, deliberations are not working and now you are declaring your ideas are not working or drying up? Maybe for you, every hope of getting up on your feet is lost and you cannot for the life of you think of how you’d get back? You are not alone in this dilemma. But the Bible reminds us of the sons of Issachar who understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do (1Chronicles 11:32a). These times are not for us to rationalize how much brain power we have and how we can expend it, rather it is a time to seek instructions from God. Friends, you have expended so much brain power (and I bet you must have headaches from such exercise), how have you fared? Do you have any clue as to what God is saying concerning the situation you’re in? The only way to know is to continually work and walk in the commands of God. The awesome truth is those dry ideas (bones) you are looking at right now will live again and will bear fruit. But, there is an instruction! God told Ezekiel to prophesy, despite the fact that there was nothing on ground to show that there is hope, in fact his brain would have been telling him, what God was saying was impossible. But Ezekiel was able to silence his brain long enough to obey and prophesy (Ezekiel 37:1-10). The same instruction is given to us today to not only prophesy but to obey first, then all we prophesy will come to pass. God has promised in His word: “But if you will carefully obey Him and do everything I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes” (Exodus 23:22). Friend, every dry bone in your life will live again, but first turn to God in obedience by rejecting everything that negates God, then, begin to prophesy to those dry bones to live again and they SURELY WILL. The grace to do this is released to you in Jesus Christ name.
