On
a daily basis, we are forced to take decisions concerning mundane things like
what to wear, eat to important life choices as who to marry, what career path
to pursue, and what to do to take our relationships, careers and businesses to
the next level. All these decisions are most times based on some physical
indices: Certain things that must play out that influences our decisions rightly
or wrongly. At the same time, there are some decisions we take not based on
some physical indices but on our gut feelings. After all these considerations,
most of our decisions do not work out because they were based on chance and
luck. The question then is: Is this how God designed our decision making
process to be? Is there a way to have a fool proof decision that will yield the
fruit it was intended?
One
may argue that there is no other way to make the necessary decisions especially
when one is in a corporate environment. This is not a management article;
however, the Bible tells us: “All those
led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons” (Romans 8:14). This is irrespective of
where they are positioned – from the kitchen table to the corporate desk. Once
you are led by the Spirit of God you are a son (male and female) of God. In
order to be led by the Spirit of God, one must be in a constant and consistent
relationship with God. When God created man to fill the earth and subdue it, He
had a pattern in mind on how man was to go about the mandate. This was the
reason He wanted man to be like Him not just bearing His image, but to carry
His likeness as well so that His (God’s) will can come to bear on earth. To
buttress this point, Jesus Christ in teaching His Disciples how to pray when
they asked for it, He added this statement to the prayer: “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”
(Matthew 6:10). In other words, they should not seek their will on any issue,
which is based on the physical indices but to consistently seek God’s! Also, God
Himself warned Moses in Exodus 25:40, “Be
careful to make everything according to the model of them you have been shown
on the mountain”. God is very particular about this because His desire is to
give us good things and an abundant life to enjoy on earth: “If you then who are evil, know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good
things to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:11). Friend, for every decision you
NEED to take, there is a pattern or template in Heaven; all you have to do is
ASK for it. If you are in an environment where you can be called upon to take decisions
immediately, it will do you great good to cultivate a consistent relationship
with Jesus Christ, such that the Holy Spirit as your constant Guide will teach
you what to do at a moment’s notice. The grace to cultivate a consistent relationship
with God is released to you in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
