Ego…A Banana Peel

If you observe carefully as a child of God, you will notice that the world’s principles on self worth, self actualization and self realization and the likes are principles designed to the detach our person from the Person of Christ. The world encourages us to pump up our egos (veiled or unveiled) so as to be who we are meant to be irrespective of the situation and circumstances we find ourselves. These principles have succeeded not in making the human better, but egocentric, unmindful of how their personal desires affect those around them. The amusing part is, many play along with this harmful foolery, offering support to the man or woman that is clearly drowning because of the choices he or she had made that has negated the very reason for their existence. Whilst this may be helpful for awhile, on the long run, it will prove the person to be empty, selfish and far from achieving the goal of knowing who he or she was created to be and achieve. The resultant effect of this sad fiasco is that the land is strewed with talents, captains in diverse fields and celebrities that have failed in the most important front – THE SOUL! Jesus Christ dealt a final blow to egocentricity when He declared that we are nothing without Him. If you claim to be His child, know this for sure, you can achieve nothing without Him: “Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me” (John 15:4). This analogy of a vine is so profound that it clearly shows that outside of God the human cannot attain anything that will last and it is a matter of time its ‘uselessness’ will be evident for all to see! It becomes pitiable when one thinks there are certain areas of his/her life that one can handle alone. If this choice was actually given, I can bet you that two things that man would have successfully stopped or modified is time and death! Sadly, that cannot happen! What the Almighty God is simply saying is: My way or no way!
For you to be truly effective in your endeavor there is only one way: Shun the egocentric principles of the world and embrace the life-giving principle of God, which states: “I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me” (John 15:5). As a child of God you may decide to shun His word in certain areas of your life but I can assure you that the result of your actions outside of Him will not amount to much: “…Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from unrighteousness” (2Timothy 2:19b). Friend, enough of play acting as a child of God; if truly you are one, surrender your desires to Him and let Him direct and counsel you on the way to go. The whole world is falling apart with needless wars, needless hatred, needless sufferings and demonic policies because of the ego of man.  But if we surrender it, He promises: “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you (John 15:7). Friend, this is the sure WORD of God for you. It is His desire that you achieve and attain all that you were created to be. God bless you as you humbly submit to His mighty Hand to direct and counsel you, He is just a prayer away!

But You Did Not Learn Christ In This Way

I remember meeting a man of God in his office after the Sunday Services in his Church. I, like many others that day needed a few minutes with him. I was there at the instruction of the LORD to deliver a message. As we were talking, one of his Church workers came in and gave him a note. His face lit up, and he was very excited. I saw that there were sets of numbers written. I thought the numbers represented those who gave their lives to Christ, because many came out during the Altar Call to give and rededicate their lives to the LORD Jesus Christ. No! Apparently, they represent the number of people in attendance at each of the three services with the corresponding money collections realised.         They were not concerned about the souls that came out hungry for God! I was saddened by their excitement. They were not excited about the souls that came into the Kingdom of God; rather, they were rejoicing about their egos, ranks and bank a...

An Answer To Almighty God's Question

"So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me” (Isaiah 6:5-8).         As the Coming of the LORD draws ever closer, there is an increase in dryness, apathy and preoccupation with the world and its treasures in the hearts and minds of many children of God. Looking around our Nation (Nigeria), one would realise that things are not as they should be. The realities on the ground give the impression that the institutions that ought to regulate the lives of the citizen...

The Quarry Site Experience

Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences.  As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard.  The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through.  Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
