So many profess to be sons of God, speak ‘christianese’, go to places where Christians go but their attitude is questionable and makes unbelievers blaspheme the name of the Lord. Jesus Christ said something that we ought to ponder on and should act as a check on us. The Bible says in John 2:23-24 “While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many trusted in His name when they saw the signs He was doing. Jesus, however would not entrust Himself to them since He knew them all…” This is curios because we believe that when men see the signs and believe they should automatically become stewards that are responsible but that were not the case here. The fact that you are born again child of God does not qualify you to be successful in some stations in life unless you are faithful and wise in those stations. It does not matter what your position is in the Body of Christ or how long you have known the Lord; the question is since you have believed, can God trust you? Can God trust you for that position you are aspiring to? Jesus said “who is that faithful and wise steward…?” He is not just looking for stewards but faithful, trustworthy and wise stewards. He is set to make such masters over His household; working faithfully and consistently until He returns. Peter like most of us disciples after reading Luke 12:35-40 asked if the parable is for us or for everyone. Answering, the Lord took the message a notch higher. Why? Because to whom much is given much is expected. The Lord has called us to occupy the land until He comes. This call is not a call to idleness and slothfulness but a solemn call to a conscientious service. As stewards of the most High God, we are expected by Heaven to carry out His perfect will in a dark and dying world. This service comes with a code of conduct; it is not a service to be carried out arbitrarily. The Bible says what qualifies them to be wise is that they know the quantity of food and the proper time to serve it to the servants of God that are under them. They are expected to tend and care for them until the Master returns. God expects you to feed the people with His word at the proper time and in appropriate quantity. Unfortunately, so many stewards starve the servants under them by giving them meals in quantities that cannot sustain them. Some have gone to the extent of beating the servants under them. How do we beat them? When you do not give them the apportioned food at the proper time or substitute the real food for lies: some man-made principles that only edify the flesh and do nothing for the soul. As Steward of the Most High God, how have you cared for your home, the congregation of God, office, school, business or neighborhood as a wife, husband, child, employer and employee? It is time to wake up and attend to the duties you have been given for He that gave you the duty says He is coming back again and you will give account of what you had been entrusted with. If you are still at a loss as to what to do, ask the Lord to grant you wisdom to carry out the tasks set before you on a daily basis. There is a blessing for being faithful and repercussions for being an unfaithful steward because Jesus says in Luke 12:43-48b “The servant whose master finds him working when he comes will be rewarded. I tell you the truth: he will put him in charge of all his possessions…And that servant who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it will be severely beaten. But the one who did not know and did things deserving of blows will be beaten lightly...” Friend, the work of God must prosper in your hands this year in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
Have you ever visited a quarry site and considered the process the rocks are subjected to before they become dressed stones to be used? If the stones could talk they will have a story to tell about their experiences. As children of God we go through diverse experiences and we wonder if we will indeed survive them. Sometimes we wonder why our gracious and compassionate Father would allow such to befall us considering who we are in Him and what we are doing in His vineyard. The Scripture that should readily come to our minds in such circumstances is God’s assurance when He said: “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire and the flame will not burn you ” (Isaiah 43:2). This Scripture assures us that through the experiences of flames and waters, God is always by our side to see us through. Thus, it is necessary for us to go through the...
