Time To Know Christ And Him Crucified!

At a point in his ministry, Apostle Paul was in Athens where his spirit was vexed and provoked because of the numerous idols the people of the city worshiped (Acts 17:16-33). The amazing thing about the Athenians and the foreigners that lived among them is that they loved to listen to and debate new ideas on a daily basis: “Now all the Athenians and the foreigners residing there spent their time on nothing else but telling or hearing something new” (Acts 17:21). One could argue that the time we live in presently is not too different from the said Athenian society. Many today love to hear new things and debate them daily. Like the Athenians that gather in their Areopagus, we have the Social Media Verse to hear and debate new things. Even our Churches and Fellowships are not left out. It is good to be curious, but in our curiosity and quest to know new spiritual things, it will be tragic to leave the important things we should be curious and seek to know about and go chasing thi

A Lie Exposed! Part 2

Someone once said God yielded a bit of His sovereignty to man that is why we have freewill and can do whatever we want; after all we have brains and wisdom, he argued. That is a very faulty, deceptive and dangerous assumption. When God created mankind, He made us His ambassadors, deputy authorities, and deputy sovereigns upon the face of the earth. He told man to have dominion over every life form on the earth and subdue it. Man had his marching orders and mode of operation, he didn’t need the permission of God to operate. That was why man could name the animals without seeking permission from God to see if the names fit! The Bible says: “…And whatever the man called a living creature that was its name” (Genesis 2:19b). Even when the female came, the male part of man named her ‘woman’ because she was taken out of man. God did not dispute this. In fact God approved everything man did because man was speaking out the mind of God at every turn. Remember, man was deputy to God!

A Lie Exposed!

One of the greatest tricks the enemy ever pulled was to deceive man into thinking he does not really need God in certain aspects of his life. He started this deceit in the beginning, when he told the Woman: “’No! You will not die,’ the serpent said to the woman. In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil’” (Genesis 3:4-5). This lie has made many wonderful children of God to erroneously place their hope in people, themselves, institutions and the likes with dire consequences, or to lose hope altogether. A young man once argued with a group of his friends that there were some things about the human race God does not bother Himself with. These things, according to him, have been left to our discretion. God has given us brains and wisdom to figure out some things for ourselves, and to take decisions based on our convictions. To buttress his point, he quoted: “The heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth He has give

Who Dictates Your Move?

“There was another famine in the land, in addition to the one that occurred in Abraham’s time. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines. The Lord appeared to him and said, ‘Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land that I tell you about; stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you. For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring, and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham’” (Genesis 26:1-3).         One may wonder in his heart why God doesn’t just make all seasons favorable, since He is the God of all seasons. Now, the answer to that dilemma is in the question. All seasons are indeed favorable because each is designed to bring glory to God and to edify man – to point man back to his Creator. The Scripture above opened with “another famine in the land, in addition to…” This means no matter what, as long as we are on this earth, there will always be seasons of plenty, famine, down turns and the likes. To underscore th

Are You Light or Darkness? Part 2

As technological feats increase, many are beginning to turn their gaze away from the true Light. Many feel the supernatural feats and miracles are greatly overrated. For instance, the Bible tells us: “Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the Church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15). But today, if we would be sincere, once one is sick among us, the first thing we do is to take the person to the Hospital or the nearest Clinic. In fact some Pastors when called will advise that the sick person should be taken to the hospital immediately, where they will visit and pray for thereafter!         Some teachings from some Pulpits today tell us to accommodate the behaviors and patterns of the world. According to these teachers, technology and society has advanced beyo

Are You Light or Darkness?

The topic is a very interesting question you may think, but one that should cause us to meditate and evaluate our stance as sons of the Most High God. That is, if we are born again Christians! For many, without thinking would obviously declare that they are sons of light. By the way, who would want to claim he is a son of darkness? Even the devil disguises himself as an agent of Light! When we said yes to Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Saviour, we were actually declaring: “…I have been crucified with Christ; and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The Life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:19b-20). If we profess this as the truth of our lives, then the fruits of our lives will bear witness of this new and borrowed life! A Life the Bible tells us is Light with no hint of darkness: “Now this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in Him

And Into This We Have Been Called…

A young lady cried out the other day: ‘what exactly is my purpose at this time? I mean, I know what my purpose overall is, but at this present time, going through this suffering, what exactly is the point; what am I supposed to do in all of this suffering?’ The anguish in her voice punctuated every syllable that came out of her lips. I was torn in my heart as I could feel the raw pain that came from her heart. I, in-turn turned to ask the Lord what I should say to her as I was lost for words and I could not find the right words to say to console her. Then I heard this statement in my spirit: “Into this you have been called” .  There are so many among us, like the young lady, going through a phase in their lives that look never ending. You may wonder why the word, ‘phase’. It is a phase because it is temporary and will pass away once it has run its course. Yes, it is running a course in order to work out and produce what God has set it out to do in your life. You might ask why. It is to

In Times Like These: Remain Standing And Strong!

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong” (1Corinthians 16:13, NLT).       Despite the persecutions of Christians around the world, a recent poll shows that Christianity is growing in leaps and bounds around the globe, with many coming to Christ. It is like the more they try to kill the Way, the more the Way thrives. Just as this is happening, there is an equally growing apathy towards the things of God by some that are already in the faith. There is something not too right with the above picture: On one hand, the Way is growing in leaps and bounds with people being added to the Kingdom despite the persecutions, while on the other hand, the attitude/character of some in the Body is causing others to question their faith. The question we ought to ask ourselves as sons of God is, why should the character/attitude of another in the faith discourage me in the faith? For the one questioning his faith, such should look at the point of his joining with the Vine (Je

In Times Like These – Love!

Seriously, I wonder how Jesus Christ would have felt and reacted if He lived in these times. One may argue that some of the things happening now were happening even then. True! There is so much hatred in the air fueling killings, hate speech and the likes. It is as if the gates of hell are thrown wide open, spewing out terrible demons of hate, with those of racism, tribalism and every form of corruption in tow. And death is marketed subtly as the answer to many uncomfortable conditions people find themselves.  So many have become deadened to what is right, such that they have become poster children for the demented works of darkness. Those that should know better because of their encounter with Christ have allowed the glittering lights of the treasures of the world to hoodwink their hearts and minds. Jesus Christ told His disciples (us inclusive), to follow His example in living, and if need be, in dying also. He said: “As the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you. Remain

What Will Be Your Legacy?

“The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot” (Proverbs 10:7).       If many of us were contemporaries of Daniel when the decree was passed that no one should petition any god or man except the king for 30 days (Daniel 6), many would have told him to apply wisdom in his worship of God, by quoting Scriptures for him: “…wisdom is profitable to direct” (Proverbs 10:10c). Many would have rebuked him by telling him how he should obey the authorities, and even welcomed his punishment when he didn't! Thank God he did not obey the edict, but went about as before in the worship of his God. And God vindicated him! Beloved, those times are not different from the one we live in now. The malaise ravaging our time now is greed and fear. Greed and fear has turned many great men to nonentities. Out of greed for money, power and fame, and the fear of losing such and even their lives have turned many to unrecognizable sons of God! Beloved, if you leave this eart

What Is Your Mission; Do You Even Know It?

As sons of God, we are called on periodically by the Lord to carry out specific missions for Him! It may be as little as giving, praying, helping, teaching, counseling, it is a mission nonetheless, for the furtherance of the Kingdom! Sadly, some of us get so preoccupied with what our purpose on earth is that we miss carrying out a present and pressing mission for the Kingdom! There are so many books, seminars, teachings and lectures on how to find one’s purpose. The idea is that if one can get and understand what his purpose is, life will begin to make sense to such. Thus, many that are yet to get what their purpose is are dissatisfied and depressed with life. The quest for finding out what one’s purpose is has led many down paths of hurts, despair and disappointment. However, that is not our discussion for today. As a child of God, do you know what your particular mission is at this time? I use the word ‘particular’ because we have a general mission for every child of God, wh

Where Is Your Gaze Fixed – What Are You Preoccupied With?

“We all with unveiled faces are reflecting the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord Who is the Spirit” (2Corinthians 3:18). The desire of God for us is to continue to gaze at His face daily. This is not as much as a physical thing but spiritual; meaning a daily preoccupation with God Almighty. As we do this, we are transformed into the same image we behold. This shows us that whatever we gaze at continually, we begin to spiritually transform into.        On each day, as humans, we are preoccupied with one thing or the other and our hearts set on a particular goal even if most times some of us can’t articulate what it is. Everything we do is geared towards advancing towards that which we hold dear in our hearts. No wonder David by the Holy Spirit declared: “I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire; to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord an

The Birthing Position

“For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will accumulate teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. But as for you, keep a clear head about everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” – 2Timothy 4:3-5. “All these events are the beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:8).       Throughout Scriptures, we see the world unfold as written and as planned by the Creator. In fact the history of the world is His Story. When the people of the world encounter happenings and phenomena they can hardly understand or interpret they go back to history to see if such had occurred before. This gives them solace and the belief that just as the one in the past was resolved, so will the present predicament. Not a bad idea! However, that is the way of the world. So many children of God try to reason in t

As You Rest, Let’s Ponder On These Things

A third of the world is on one form of lock down or the other and the media is awash with all manner of information. All geared towards scaring the living day lights out of their viewers, readers and listeners. This is good of course. They say the information is to keep the people informed and to make them comply with the laws and regulations of the regulators of the societies. There is no problem with this, since it is for the well being of the people. However, instead of making people feel at ease, the overload of information has planted unwarranted fears in the hearts of people. To bring this home, as sons of God, why are there so many amongst the ranks that are secretly fearful? Remember, what is coming from the world and the government is information and NOT revelation . If we believe this, why is the information coming out informing our state of minds? Beloved, what are you afraid of? Jesus said to His Disciples: “…’Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest awhi

And This Too Shall Pass

“Therefore let us approach the Throne of Grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time” (Hebrews 4:16).        Looking at the canvass of the world right now, there is fear, pain, chaos, confusion and death. One would think with all that is going on, the enemy and his agents will take a break from their evil works. Not really! Rather, they reinforce the pain, confusion and chaos by spreading fear through every platform they can lay their hands on. We are warned in the Bible not to fear their fear: “Do not call everything an alliance these people say is an alliance. Do not fear what they fear; do not be terrified” (Isaiah 8:12). But we are encouraged to stand and remain standing in our faith in Christ Jesus: “As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him” (Colossians 2:6, AMP). Since fear is spread by what people hear and take

Take Care How You Listen!

“The hidden things belong to the Lord our God, but the revealed things belong to us and our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29).        There is a warning Jesus Christ gave His disciples that we at this present time must not lose sight of. After explaining the meaning of a parable He had just taught them and the public, He said: “For nothing is concealed that won’t be revealed, and nothing hidden that won’t be made known and come to light. Therefore take care how you listen …” (Luke 8:17-18a). So many at this time are not listening! This is evident in the chaos witnessed in the society, from government to the home front. Things and decisions that are clearly discerned are sounding as if they are from another planet. Certain decisions taken and you wonder if the person while taking it at the time was sane to begin with. We are living in a time that Wisdom is clearly shouting from the street corners but sadly, the voice of foolishn

Don’t Give Up!

Life is a constant battle. From the moment we drew our first breath to when we will draw our last, we are in a war! A young man told me a couple of days ago that he was tired of the fight and was thinking of ending it. ‘Why should life always be a battle’, he asked. He asked further, ‘if it all ends in death, why not quicken it along and end it all, once and for all?’ This is an extremely faulty logic peddled by the devil. Inasmuch as this present life is a constant battle in an unending war, eternity on the other hand, is based on the outcome of the war fought while in the flesh! It is then prudent to be mindful how we fight here. Why, you may ask.        From Genesis chapter 3, the battle line was drawn between man and the serpent: “I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head and you will strike his heel” (Genesis 3:15).   And Revelation 12 made it more clear why the battle is more fierce for the sons of God:

St Valentine's Day Celebration: Begging The Question!

A post once appeared on a Christian website which mirrors the mood of the moment among so many Christians: “Does it matter that an ancient festival used to worship pagan gods and promote fertility was adopted by the Church and used to worship the God of the Bible? Does God really care what customs are used to worship and honor Him or what holidays we celebrate?” So many argue that since the end result of these festivals is to worship God, then, the purpose has been achieved. Such forget that our God is a God of order. All He had done or ever permitted to be done had been according to divine order. In the Bible, we see how God Himself planned several feasts or celebrations for His own people either as memorials of what He had done or as a prophetic picture of what He will do. In all of these Scriptures, there was no where that we were mandated by Him to set aside a day or days in honor of a man no matter how diligent the person was, only God rewards such:  “Now without faith it is imp
